Posted by Charles, 15 April 2010 · 1,048 views

The new mobile skin for IP.Board 3.1 is now available for viewing right here on our community! Just visit on a popular mobile device and the skin will load automatically.

Separate Skin

The mobile skin shows as a separate skin in your AdminCP so you can edit it as you see fit. Change the colors, put up your own logo, or even put in mobile ads to monetize your community.

Support for Popular Mobile Devices

IP.Board 3.1 has built in support for a list of many popular mobile devices. Keep in mind it's easy to add support for even more right in the AdminCP.

It's not set up for Opera Mobile / Windows Phone. >_<

Well said that man :)

Also using Opera Mobile on an HTC HD2 if one selects the mobile skin and hits [GO] the skin does not change and one loses the [GO] button.

Most mobile devices don't actually support uploading of files, so it seems unnecessary to support uploading of files in the mobile skin if you asked me.

I can't imagine *ever* needing to upload a file from my iphone (that was if it were even supported - it's not on the iphone).

Erm 99% of all Windows Mobile devices do support mobile uploading :) But then again that has an open file structure which the iPhone doesn't.
please add support for opera mini generic browser (non touchscreen), not just modern browser like webkit one, that would be best valuable.

thank you
Whennnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Add Xscope, it's a popular browser for the Android.

Will it append something like "Posted wirelessly via [device]" to the end of each message? I know vb has this.

No - in my opinion that's useless information. It annoys me when iPhone does it, let alone the website I'm posting on adding it for me! :)
There could be a small icon showing it's a mobile post. A lot less intrusive :)
I think I found a slight issue with the skin?
The forum view. Where it shows the date/time or the latest reply. All the topics show the date or the latest reply of the first forum. I'd make a screenshot. But I don't know how to do that on my blackberry. Lol
Can you guys add one for T-Mobile?
Great stuff. Can I download it right now even before 3.1?

The skin is specific to the browser on the mobile phone, not Carrier.

You should post what phone you use such as the brand and model.  T-Mobile is just the name of the carrier.
Nice! I am loving it!!
Charles, will a CleanCut update be ready for 3.1 as well?
What can we change of the IP. Mobile Skin? May we change icons, buttons and colours as well? :)
Works great with my Palm Pre!

Samsung T-Mobile.
The mobile skin still needs menu support.  The lack of is killer.

Please let me know the exact handset you are using if it doesn't automatically switch skins for you. If you know the full user-agent, post that too.

Samsung Omnia i900

Built in Internet Explorer automatically switches to Mobile Skin.
"SAMSUNG-SGH-i900/1.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.11)"

Additionally installed Opera does not.
"SAMSUNG-SGH-i900/1.0 Opera 9.5"
