IP.Nexus Dev Update: Donations

Not only can IP.Nexus be used to sell specific items on your community. IP.Nexus can accept open donations targetted to any number of goals.

Please note that the interface shown in the screenshots is not finalised and subject to change.

A donation goal can be open-ended, that is, it has no target. For example, a personal community could accept donations towards the cost of maintaining the site. A donation can also have a specific target amount if you are asking donations towards a specific total.

Donation goals can be managed in the Admin CP.

When creating a goal you specify a name, description and if desired, a target.
You can create as many goals as you like.

Users can then donate towards goals in the User CP.

As you can see, all goals are listed and a progress bar is shown for goals that have specified targets.
To donate, a user simply enters in the amount they wish to donate and they are taken straight to the payment screen.

After payment, the user is shown a thanks page where they will see the progress meter again:

- but agree with the poster above really need hooks (sidebar / footer) to promote such things

I'm not such a big fan of it being hidden in the depths of the User CP. I personally think it would be better within the IP.Nexus application and hope it will have its own place when it's finalized.

Aside from that, everything else is looking pretty good.

Currently I use IP.Subscriptions selling subscriptions for raising donations and have the donors put in an extra group giving them extra stuff ie. more PMs.

Will I be able to have the same functionality in IP.Nexus using the Donations or should I make a package for that and Donations are just for free/extra money?

Sucks for Michael as this pretty much puts out his Donation Tracker mod, but hey if you make a good mod this is what happens

Not necessarily. Someone might not buy IP.Nexus and use the donation tracker instead.

Is there anyway to add recurring donation? So, users can subscribe to like monthly, quarterly or yearly donations?

May not be a good idea base on it would be better if they want to donation they should keep doing it so the user is knowing their doing it. This helps to show that down the line they can't say on I didn't mean to do that etc.

Or you can allow for the forum admin to specify the lengths/reoccurring times for donations.

e.g.

"Reoccur every 3 months" (quarterly)
"Reoccur every month" (monthly)

etc.

That way, the admins can decide and customize for their forum.

Also, this donation feature kinda puts Michael's to shame

It's a lot more customizable by the looks of it and allows for open-ended donations which is what I was looking for. If anything, I'll be buying IP.Nexus for both my boards I run

Wont this have some kind of feature like the IP.Subscritption mod has... so it has option so allow them to chose a package to pay for a month or pay monthly subcription
