IP.Board 3.3 and IP.Content 2.3 Coming Soon!

We are well into beta testing for IP.Board 3.3 and IP.Content 2.3 and so far it's going very well. Practically no bugs are being reported and often times our staff have literally 0 open general bugs in our bug tracker. That is quite an accomplishment and something of which we are very proud!

If you are an IPS Client and are comfortable beta testing we would love for you to take some time in the next day or two and visit the pre-release testing forum. There you can download the latest beta releases to try out yourself. Please report bugs to the bug tracker so we can fix any issues before we go for the final, supported release.

One of our primary goals for these releases, in addition to feature changes and enhancements of course, was to fix as many issues as we possibly could. While there will always be bugs and such in any software package, we are very proud that we have been able to address every general operational bug report that has come in. That's not something many can say. Of course once this release is used by thousands of people we will need maintenance releases but going out of the gate with basically no known issues is a great way to start!

Thank you to everyone who has assisted in beta testing so far. The final, supported releases will be here before you know it thanks to your help.

IPBoard is finally usable!

OK, I kid, but things that always seemed to me like they should be very simple are now easily done, such as adding navigation tabs, putting pages in the navigation tab, etc. Previously, this required editing the templates, which is a bit daunting for a novice.

Wow! I've been waiting for a long time to upgrade to the 3.3 final release and i'm glad to see the day is getting nearer.

It's rare to see all bugs squashed for a new release. Impressive work!

WOW! But over 40 "minimal impact" bugs... Its easy to mark all bugs as "minimal impact" and say "we have no general bugs"... Sorry, but you should fix ALL bugs (also the "minimal impact") and THEN release the new version.

Well that's easy to say but there are real-world reasons that make your statement unattainable

Often "minimal impact" bugs are the kind of thing where the issue is very minor (kind of like if I do this then that with a certain setting then spin around in my chair 3 times this happens) but the fix is very involved or time consuming. It's a case where fixing a minor little thing that rarely even comes up would cause more trouble than it's worth.

Awesome! Now release Calendar 2.3 and I will be happy. The latest calendar has so many problems it's almost unusable.

Funny, I haven't had any issue with the Calendar so far (Am I an exception)... looking forward for a more friendly version of IPB Suite... a bit tired a editing templates for so many things...

During the development of IP.Board 3.3 we merged the two former categories "Flagged For Future Version" and "Confirmed - Minimal Impact" into one category and reviewed every report in there - fixing or otherwise closing over 60. As Charles says - most of what's left in there is barely even a bug, or is something which requires significant rewriting of an area, which we have planned for a future version
