Over the last few months I've been lurking at MacRumors forum. Many of the people there are sensible, people who like me are just Mac fans who like to have an idea of what's going on in the big secretive soul that is Apple. That said there is a large number of so-called 'fans' who irritate me beyond belief. I've identified several of them and here's a sample:
The Apple Apologist
This Apple fan congratulates Apple on everything they do, no matter what. "Apple sues ThinkSecret!" "They had it coming, those rumour-mongering bastards!" "iTMS files will only play on iPods." "Then buy an iPod! What you complaining about!" This fan is generally a prick. Even things that are obviously moronic or problems on Apples part are apologised for. This user will try to explain what happened with the iMac G4 -> G5 conversion in a way that makes Apple wonderful, because not having your flagship product available for 3 months is excellent marketing sense. He (and it is invariably a he) will even try to explain, slowly and patiently, that a Mac will make a better gaming machine than a PC (I have actually seen this done). Logic doesn't work on them. They are impervous to it, and therefore are likely to be American.
The Disillusioned Former Apple Fan
This Apple fan is upset with Apple. Apple isn't moving fast enough. It's hardware is slow and its computers aren't good enough. As a result this user is always going to buy a PC NEXT WEEK. This user was going to buy a PC next week last year as well, and doesn't seem to care that no one on a Mac is going to give a flying ###### about his new PC. This users new PC will blow any Mac out of the water, despite being half the price of a Mac Mini. This user IS BETTER THAN YOU. Because he realises that Apple sucks. Why he continues to spend his time on an Apple site is your guess as good as mine.
The Begger
The homeless person of the MacRumors community the beggar sits in the corner saying things like 'Plz aple!!!!!!!!!!11 Plz mke a 7 GHz 12 inche Pwerbok G7 for $20!!!!!11' 'Plz giv us 5.1 support in the iPod Stev!!!!!!!!!!!11' This user doesn't seem to recognise that:
1. Apple might prefer you to spell.
2. Apple isn't going to make major business decisions based on what some moron says on a rumor site.
3. Don't you think if it could conceivably work and make money they would of done it?
4. That they're an idiot.
The Windows Basher
Hasn't ever actually used a Mac, just figures that he hates Microsoft and therefore Macs must be automatically better. Which is a bit like saying that John Kerry was a terrible Presidential candidate and therefore George Bush must automatically be better. Everytime Apple releases a Security Update he'll say something about releasing less security updates than Microsoft, and everytime someone mentions Tiger he'll say 'that kicks Longhorn's ass' despite the fact that Longhorn is in Pre-Alpha so he's in no position to judge. Instantly reviled by anyone with a maturity above that of a toddler.
Mass-Executions are too good for some people.

Infact, that whole blog entry reminded me of people who hang around on IPB-Related Sites.
