Well, it's not quite the constructive post I promised, but I feel the need to rant about this
I've had a Create Card for about 2 years now, and in May, the site started telling me Create Card is closing, will close at the end of June. Bit annoyed at that, seeing as I had built up a decent credit limit on that card, but oh well. No further info what so ever. Coming up to end of June I decide it would be a good idea to clear the balance on it, in case I ended up getting debt collectors on the phone or something. Sent off last payment, and on the 30th of June, tried to check the balance to see it was empty. Go to createcard.co.uk and you will see the issue. It's gone, vanished, finito, etc.
Again, slightly annoyed, you would think they would leave some info up, surely a FAQ, and a contact number. Not to be outdone, I dig out the number from the back of the card, and call. "This number has closed, call this one (Lloyds TSB platinum customer service)". Called "that one". Please enter account number. Done that. "Sorry, we can't find your account". Funny that, seeing as I dont have a Lloyds TSB card.
So, I call General Customer Service. Took me about 20 minutes to get the woman to understand Create Card was in fact related to Lloyds TSB, and then she dug out "the right dept." and forwarded me, "This number has closed". Yes, Im back there again.
Phone down, given up.
Then, after ranting to Rikki about this, he discovers an article that says all Create Card customers should have a Lloyds TSB Platinum card as replacement. AND I should have had it in January. Now suitably annoyed, I get back on the phone. Keep in mind, that if Rikki hadn't googled it, I would have had no idea I was even supposed to get another card.
Another clueless person, sends me to lloyds tsb platinum accounts, who told me straight away they couldn't help. Eventually, I get a 'senior someone' who says oh yea, I know what to do. Digs out my account info, tells me my card is cancelled. I know this. He digs around, and eventually decides/guesses that he should send me to lost & stolen, as I haven't got this new card.
He got it right! Very helpful chap apologises for the run around, and says he will send me a new card out asap. He then discovers my account is using the wrong address, and fixes that too. Assures me the card hasn't in fact been used since January, and that a new one will be with me in a few days.
Fast Forward 3 weeks. No sign of a new card. Not at home at the moment, but figure I'll call the international number in case my card's been stolen. (Side note: why on earth is there a queue for lost & stolen at midnight??)
I am now informed that my card has been withheld as the fraud dept. want to investigate the fact that I did a lost card request 6 months late, and changed my address on the same day. I mean, W.T.F.
I reckon I've now spent about 3 hours on the phone, and no sign of it getting solved. I have to call the fraud dept. when I get home. (No, they can't contact me apparently).
Here's the best bit though. THE ADDRESS I CHANGED IT TO WHEN I REPORTED THE CARD MISSING, WAS IN FACT THE ORIGINAL ADDRESS ON MY ACCOUNT. THE SAME ONE THEY HAVE SENT EVERY OTHER CARD TO PREVIOUSLY. AND THEY KNOW THIS.
I rest my case. Credit Card company's should be shot.

This isn't just about Credit Cards companies, what about Mobile Phone companies and ISP's... I've spent hours.. days.. at the phone, explaining what the problem/question is. They just keep redirecting, then when I kinda FLIP OUT and tell the guy to shut up and give me a 'senior someone' I get what I want.. Why did it took that long? Pff.. Sometimes they think you're stupid or something. Like I don't know what a modem or NIC is as Sysadmin :S
Hope you get the CC somehow, with all the money still on it

Just thought of something,
About 2 years ago I opened a bank account for my website/hosting "company". I told them I just want an account to get a nice overview of donations/payments, I dont want any other stuff like a card or something. Well, 3 weeks after I got a message from the postoffice there is a package for me from that bank. I need to go there by myself with some ID. Well, I didn't ask for it so I never went to the PO. Today (about 2 years later) I still don't know what happend with that card, if I go to online banking I can see the card number so it does exist...
