WordPress SSO Integration for IP.Board

I have just released a hook in the Marketplace which enables SSO integration between the popular blogging platform WordPress, and IP.Board 3.1.4.

In short, if users are registered and logged in to WordPress on your website, and they then visit your forums an account will be made behind the scenes and they will automatically be logged in. Users can also login via the standard IP.Board login pages, and it will check WordPress to see if they have an account - creating a truly seamless experience.

Furthermore, users from WordPress are stored on IP.Board with their own accounts and the same password, meaning if you ever disable this hook or uninstall WordPress - your WordPress users can still login to IP.Board.

Why have users log in twice with two separate accounts when they can have one seamless experience?

Single Sign On greatly enhances the user experience, reducing the time the end user has to keep logging in, and gets them access to parts of your website quicker.

Some key features include:
  • Highly configurable, no need to mess about with files - can be controlled via your IP.Board Admin CP.
  • Can choose to sync usernames, or allow new users to pick their own display names upon first visit to IP.Board.
  • Can choose to sync administrators from WordPress, making them administrators in IP.Board.
  • Can choose the default user group that WordPress members are put into.
Click here to visit the file.

Do you have a website, a live demo, any other mods?

You're a new member with no posts and asking for $50 for your first mod/hook

I need more than just your word before spending that sort of money despite yearning for a SSO for any content management or blogging system as I purchased Content from IPB and have never used it - way too complicated

He's also known as Alex, AH Modding was his old company name he did work under.
Great addition to the marketplace. I'm surprised this was never developed sooner by anyone :)
This is what I have been looking for forever. Thanks a lot AH Modding. :)
expensive... 8-0

expensive... 8-0

When custom SSO work can run into hundreds of $$, I think $50 is reasonable.
I believe they already provide this for free here http://ipbwi.com lol..

The beta is free but it's bugged
Wow, 50$ is pretty steep. Is it encoded? The only thing that keeps me from buying ipbwi is the ioncube thing.
This is not encoded, and contains free updates. IPBWi is not free, it's only free in beta (which is encoded to my knowledge), and is actually $10 more than this hook :)
Alex, do you plan to have a support site or demo site for this mod

Have followed your other member profile and a link to your website but only a single blog entry and lots of porn links and comments on there doesn't fill me with confidence

I don't have wordpress setup yet but if I do and use this sso can my users use their ipb login which will autmatically make them logged in to WP too without the ned to register on the WP section of my site - I presume thats the case

Is there any more details documentation or instalation info anywhere?
Blog's been sorted.. was using an old version of IP.Board before the ReCaptcha was hacked - should be patched now.

As for the SSO, yes, you are correct. Users can login to WordPress with their IP.Board accounts, and WordPress will create an account for them.

As for support - it will be supported here: http://community.inv...so-integration/

What happens with users that have accounts only on IP.Board and not on Wordpress? Would your hook create accounts for them on the Wordpress side?

I"m using ip.converge for integrating IP.Board, Wordpress mu 2.9 and iAuto software, but since future of ip.converge is not clear, I am very interested in alternative solutions...

thanks,
Ivan
I released an update today for that, users that just have IP.Board accounts will have a WordPress account when they attempt to login to WordPress with the same user/pass combination.
stop complaining about the price. if you dont want to pay for it, make your own version of the mod. if you want to use it, then you need to pay for the mans time and energy that it took to make it. $50 is cheap, it would cost you a lot more than that to have this custom made for yourself.
dogpatch, calm down boy, have a bone chief lol!! The sdk on ipbwi.com works perfectly fine as I know someone that uses it!!! It really comes down to whether you want to pay $50 for this hook or the sdk from ipbwi.com!! For those of you with minimal to no coding knowledge, Id suggest Alex's hook so not to bad mouth this hook as Im sure it does the job easily, I merely suggested the alternative lol!!!
Nice! Been looking forward to this.. definitely will be picking this up in the next few days.. thanks AH Modding!
Are you going to be updating this to ipb 3.2?
This hook was developed on 3.2 and therefore should automatically work. If any issues arise, they will of course be fixed.
The SSO plugin was removed - refund please.
