(Wolf) Nexus Support Count hook updated

Posted by Wolfie, 20 November 2011 · 453 views

(Wolf) Nexus Support Count - Please read the file description for full details.

In the past, this hook would only show a simple text with the number of open support requests and that text would be highlighted in red if that number wasn't 0.  If your ACP link wasn't set to be removed (IPB security option), that text would also be linked so you could go directly to the support requests in the ACP.  That's a very nice and useful feature indeed, but sometimes you need more than that.

One of the recent IP.Nexus updates included a strip of icons when in the ACP/Nexus application.  That strip would show you counts for open support requests, transactions on hold, shipping orders, payout requests and hosting errors.  With the updated version of my hook, you get that same information on the front end of the board.

The new features to this invaluable hook include the following:
Classic mode - Keep using the same view as before if you want.

Critical and total counts - In previous versions of my hook, you'd only get one count.  Now, you get a critical count along with a total count.  This can be useful if you are browsing your community 'after hours' and don't want to check on tickets but at the same time don't want to shrug off important support issues.

Choose what to show - If you don't offer hosting or products that would require shipping, then there is no need to check for or show this information.  So you can disable these from appear in this hook.

ACP restrictions respected - If you are using ACP restrictions, you obviously don't want people seeing notifications for stuff they don't have access to.  Those restrictions are respected.

Always show - If you like, you can have the counts to show for all items, even those that wouldn't normally show up because of having a '0' count.

Other improvements - Please visit and read the file description for more information.

Here are a couple of screenshots, to show both what settings are available and what you will see on the front end.

Important: These new features are in beta status.  It should be safe to use on a live site, however the counts or checking of ACP restrictions are still being tested and may either report wrong counts or may show when they shouldn't or may not show when they should.
