How well a product integrates with the rest of the areas of your site can quickly determine it's long term success. This is particularly true of an application like Classifieds as the last thing your advertisers want is their carefully worded promotional content buried in an "advert graveyard". For that reason this blog entry will focus on improvements made to increase the flexibility and exposure of Classifieds whilst still keeping focus on your primary content.
IP.Content Integration
Seamlessly integrate Classifieds data into your existing website using IP.Content feed blocks. These feeds are fully customisable allowing you to retrieve adverts from specific categories, featured adverts, the latest entries or countless other combinations. The display of these feed blocks is also fully customisable so you can present the info as you see fit.
The embedded video below shows the process of creating a feed block within IP.Content better than words could explain it.
Shared Media
Built in shared media functions of IP.Board allow users to quickly and easily highlight and link to items throughout the suite. Anywhere there is an editor field you can embed a short snippet of info into the text directly.
With 1.2 I'm pleased to report that this functionality now extends to Classifieds.
User Profile View
Also continuing the theme of increased integration with the rest of the IPS suite, user's active adverts can now be viewed directly from within their profile.

Condition Converted to Custom Field
Many of the feature improvements in Classifieds 1.2 have centered around improving flexibility, this feature is no exception. Version 1.1 included a static field for item condition but this was often not appropriate to the content being displayed.
In 1.2 this feature has been converted to a custom field so it can be enabled on a category by category basis. In combination with the advert pricing type improvements I blogged about previously, this should open up Classifieds to many other usage scenarios.
Release Date
I am increasingly aware that many customers are becoming anxious to get their hands on this latest release so it gives me great pleasure to announce that late stage testing is well under way. Expect a full release to the Marketplace before Christmas day!
