If you've never used Advanced Tags & Prefixes, or you haven't checked it out in a while, you'll find a lot has changed recently. This is particularly true of something many of you will find useful: Tag management.
For most sites, you've either been using IP.Board since long before 3.2, or you converted from another forum software. Either way, the result is the same: You have a massive amount of topics with no tags.
Tag Management: Mass-Adding
Advanced Tags & Prefixes has two ways of dealing with this problem. You can create a Topic Multi-Mod to add a prefix or tags, and go through your forums checking topics to apply the multimod. If you like fine-grained control, that's exactly what it gives you--select the particular topics you want to add tags to.
The other method is a newly added feature: Mass-Add Tags/Prefixes. You can search for topics based on their title, first post, and the forum it's in. Exclude pinned and locked topics if you want--or don't. Then choose the prefix or tags you want to add to the results.
Run the search, and you're given a list of all the topics that matched the search before anything is added.
Tag Management: Changing and deleting
Maybe adding tags isn't your problem--maybe you have too many of them to keep track. There's a tool for that too.
The Manage Tags module gives you a list of every tag and prefix in every application on your site. Not only that, but with a click you can change every single instance of a tag to something else [say there was a typo], or delete it entirely. It's that easy.
Tag Management: Display
Another thing this application does is give you control over how tags and prefixes are displayed. By default, they all look the same, and prefixes are actually repeated in the topic's tag list. Maybe you don't want the prefix listed twice--or maybe you don't want tags showing up on the topic list at all. You can do that.
