Hello,
I'm going to talk you about the application "Applications System", it is the new version of Group Joining System ( Link );
A lot of new features have been added.
For those who don't know what it is all about, it lets your members apply for a certain group in a very easy, professional way.
You decide who can apply, statuses which members' application will go through and many other settings.
An example will clarify your ideas.
Let's say that, in my board, I'm looking for good reportes, who can make quality articles about whatever they want. But I only want the best reporters out there, not everyone.
Also I want only members with some experience, on my board and not, to apply.
Let's start by setting the group 'Reporters'. Every field talks for itself, so I will not explain you this part.
As I said, I don't want ALL members to apply, so here I'll set requirements that members must meet in order to apply.
As you can see, there other tabs, but I won't talk about them, so that I can make a short article.
Questions. I want my users to answers some questions, so that I can have a clear idea of who they are and what the can do. I have created the questions on a previous moment, I only have to choose which one of them I want to be asked for this group (Reporters), since a question can be asked for more than one group.
Last thing, I want someone to manage those applications. These persons will moderate applications, they'll be able to update the status of applications, moderate comments and make the user answer to some questions again, if they think that member answered not correctly. I have added the moderators on a previous moment, I'll only have to choose wich one of them can moderate in this group. I chose devRegan (myself).
Now, i don't think i'll need to add any other questions so I'll just activate applications.
Note that I can also choose statuses for this group, the application comes with 4 default statuses, but, according to your needs, you can create as many as you want. Example? Let's say you have an online gaming community, you can create a status named "Sent to a General", that means that the application has been sent to moderators (in this case Generals, if it's a war game) for the final approval, in case there is at least one moderator who can access applications in this status.
Now, as I said, I only have to click the Not Active status, to start applications. Every new application submitted will have a default status (chose by you).
Let's go on the public side.
And there it is, members just have to click the Apply Now button, and, if they passed the group requirements, they'll have to answer questions that I chose, and then it's up to moderators decide what to do. I forgot to mention that you can also select the group icon, best size is 100x100 pixels.
Applications System is being tested and will be released real soon, I promise.
