Well the time finally came for me to cut over my live site from vB to IPB and it went very well!
We take our site offline during Easter and Christmas so that Sunday, while the site was already offline was the prefect time to make the move.
I had downloaded and installed a test site a couple of months ago and had the converting process down, I had gotten used to the ACP and most of the workings of IPB. I had gotten a skin created, although not exactly 100% done, it was done enough to a live site..
So, I took the vB site offline.. I backed up the database. I backed up the entire file structure of my site. I then downloaded both of these back ups.
I then deleted the entire vB structure and had a blank slate to work with. Upon the advice of the IPB staff I decided to keep the test site I had been working on and install a fresh copy of IPB for my live site.
I uploaded the files and started the conversion process. If you have never done a conversion through IPB, then you really don't know how easy it is. The developers have done a great job making it almost bullet proof and if you don't feel comfortable with it, then they can convert your site for you for a small fee ($60).
After converting I proceeded to set the permissions as these didn't convert over. This was a time comsuming task, but an easy one. I really like the way IPB handles their permissions and settings. They are really easy to work with.
After this I was ready to go live again. I had uploaded the file, converted all my data and users, uploaded and install my custom skin and within 3 hours total time had IPB ready to run.
It's been a short week, but so far my users are getting use to the changes. I have taken screen shots and posted a lot in the site giving my members information on the changes and how things work within IPB.
I will post later on the overall reaction and how we have benefited from IPB.

It's good to hear its all going well. I'm sure once your members have had a few days to 'settle' back in again they will also be very happy with the changes too.
