Redesigning Solidare Design (Part One)

  Posted by Κeith, 22 November 2010 - - - - - - · 68 views

There were a handful of things I wanted to address in a redesign of our site.

1) It?s very focused on IPB work. I mean, yeah, it?s the majority of the work we do, but when people come to us for web site work, it?s not very inviting. I wanted to showcase that we can handle more than just communities.

2) It doesn?t change much. Part of that is the fact that...

There?s Some Changes Coming!

  Posted by Κeith, 28 October 2010 - - - - - - · 77 views

If you’ve visited the site in the last five months, you’ll notice things haven’t changed much. We still have an ad we set up back in July in our header. We’ve been busy, and while that’s a good thing, it’s hindered our ability to keep our web site updated with current information.

We’re going to be rolling out a...

Firefox 4.0 Menu Button Style

  Posted by Κeith, 08 July 2010 - - - - - - · 167 views

There’s been some discussion about changing the menu button in Firefox 4.0, so I figured I’d give it a shot. It’s just CSS, so how hard could it be?

First step is opening up your Firefox profile directory. Easiest way to do this is by going to about:support and clicking the big...

Summer?s in Full Effect!

  Posted by Κeith, 08 July 2010 - - - - - - · 72 views

I live in New York, and it’s been insanely hot this week. I mean, ten to fifteen degrees higher than we’re used to. This time of year, we usually get up to 85-89, but we’ve crushed that the last four days. We’ve touched 100, with a lot of humidity, so it’s forcing us to stay indoors with our air conditioning, and that’s...

IPB Retro Released

  Posted by Κeith, 04 June 2010 - - - - - - · 188 views

When I offered discounts on upgrade projects, I expected to get a good response, and my plan was to create an IPB 2.x styled skin to use as a base for the upgrades, thinking it would save some time as I’d be essentially making a new 2.x skin instead of a new 3.1 skin.

The result is IPB Retro, a skin I’m releasing for other developers out there...

IP.Board Skin Resource ? CSS Edit Reduction

  Posted by Κeith, 02 June 2010 - - - - - - · 141 views

One of the things I’ve always despised about IP.Board skinning was the gigantic CSS file included in the skin. There was so much obsolete code in there, the thing was nearly 2000 lines long. With the release of IPB 3.0, I was most happy to see that they were bringing in something that I’ve done personally for years. Abstracted style sheets.

The...

Solidare (re)Design

  Posted by Κeith, 26 May 2010 - - - - - - · 65 views

Back in August 2009, I decided it was time to stop doing freelance work through my personal blog, and set out to create a new brand for myself. I had experienced many great things while working at Metalaxe, and a big part of that was having a strong brand whose centerpiece was website to which I could direct potential clients. I needed a single location...
