Big stuff this week! I started term 4 on Monday - "Advanced acting". This term is the last focussing on animation; terms 5 and 6 are more geared towards film-making and getting our demo reel up to scratch.
My mentor this term is a guy called Robert Russ. He's worked at Pixar since just after Toy Story 1 - just over 10 years. Going pretty well so far, we had a good Q&A session with the class on Tuesday.
The first few weeks of this term deal with facial animation. Our model has been updated to include lots of new controls on the face which means we can get much better expressions with him. Later on we'll move onto doing scenes with more than one character.
The assignment this week was to take one of our pieces from last term and work on the facial animation. If you've followed my blog, I chose to do my most recent piece, the Dumb and Dumber dialogue. Note that the facial stuff is only in blocking right now, and I haven't focussed at all on the mouth. We can get proper mouth shapes now, but I'm going to focus on those this coming week.
I've attached a H.264 version to this post (needs Quicktime 7), and linked to a 3vix version if you need that one. Lots of comments would be appreciated as ever
