So here it is, my current animation 'finaled'. I have to say, my polishing skills are lacking, and it frustrates me no end. I didn't post my work yesterday as I usually do because I wasn't in the most pleasant of moods due to this.
Polishing is the stage where everything is done save for the tiny details that make a good animation better. In this stage, you check your arcs (every part of your movement should move in arcs), check your overlaps, make sure fingers aren't going through the table, check eye-lines and so on. I struggle with this because I don't know how to use the software to my advantage. Take for example the screen-right hand in this weeks clip - it floats around at the beginning - this is because I just cannot get it locked down into one position and animate a rotation in it too.
Going back to my previous entry where Wizzy and I were discussing 2D/3D, this is one area where 2D seems so much better. You don't have to mess around with controls and getting things to stay in one place - you just draw it and it's done. Also, arcs are easier to deal with because you're basically drawing them in yourself.
Anyway, this week I took the decision to redo the beginning of the animation entirely. It needed it, but it was something I don't want to have to do again. Redoing half your animation from scratch isn't a good idea in the polishing stage. Not a good idea at all. I was up until 7am yesterday working on it, then back up at 11am to work on it through to 8pm.
Here it is. This is what is called 'Final' even though I'm not happy with calling it that. I can see lots of things I would work on if I could just get it to do what I want.
Let me know what you think as usual

I like how he jumps up on the counter at the end, and how it actually looks like he's saying the lines. Do you have any plans for doing background renders or anything on it?
