Laugh at me whydontcha

Posted by Rikki, 27 May 2006 · 65 views

OK... Here it is. A once in a lifetime chance to see me trying to act on camera.

Please don't laugh.

This week I had to record myself pitching my story. In my live Q&A this week we'll be watching each others pitches and giving feedback, but I've decided to take the plunge and post it here so that you can give me any feedback you might have too. I hate acting, let alone to a camera, so you should think yourself very lucky that I've found the courage to post this in public online tongue.gif I am naturally an introvert. Me acting to a camera is like a fish having a go at mountain climbing.

You'll notice the situation has changed slightly from the initial idea I posted 2 weeks ago. One of my fellow students came up with some brilliant ideas for my story, with the main change being it set in an office instead of a house, which I think works much better. He also came up with the idea of the boss being involved.

Anyway, have a laugh at me trying to act, but if you do, please also leave some feedback about the story too original.gif

The file is encoded in H.264 and is around 11Mb. I'm afraid I won't be doing a 3vix version because I'm strapped for space.

P.S: If anyone makes me the next Star Wars Kid, I will hunt you down thumbsup.gif

Sounds good, I didn't laugh (much) wink.gif
That is brilliant original.gif
That was awesome. You got really into it, too. grin.gif I might have to watch it again, but I liked what I did hear.
That was brilliant! I think the animation will be even better! You told it so well, it seemed so vivid in my imagination. Oh - and I seemed to loose count of "And his arms are going" *waves arms strangely* - you did that a lot tongue.gif but it was also funny!

Oh, and I liked the added effect of the paper falling, made me laugh more!

Very nice Rikki original.gif The paper effect was indeed great, plus I liked how towards the beginning you did the effect of how he would be pushing his hands up against the wall, you did a good job with that as well.Overall a very nice job IMHO. I have watched a lot of your animation pieces but I have to admit that isn't counting the most recent ones due to computer / internet problems. I'll be sure to try and catch up on what I missed though! original.gif
It doesn't work for me pinch.gif
Nice story Rikki. Don't worry, I won't make you the next Star Wars kid..... innocent.gif whistling.gif

lol lots of arm flaying around tongue.gif At the beginning it looked like you had a plank of wood down your back, but you seemed to loosen up as it went on. Well done! I am sure it will be great.
Very good original.gif Well done, I think you did well considering just how shy you actually are, Rikki!
That sounds really good, I think you portray the story very well. It looks like you have it really well developed in your mind. After the character has crashed and is in a daze, have you though about having the camera from the point of view of him, so you see the face of the boss looking angry at you as you are the skier? Thought it might look quite cool.

Well done, it's a good pitch. happy.gif
Yeah, I've thought about the camera angles a bit, but they emphasised that this was pitching the story, not worrying about stuff like cameras, or effects or anything that doesn't affect the storyline. I know I did a couple of times, but I didn't know how else to tell the part about it starting as an image in a book.
Rikki it sounds awesome, tongue.gif I can't wait to see it come together. I think you did a great job presenting the idea too, very cool! grin.gif
You came across as really confident, that was a great pitch! Really looking forward to seeing how this progresses... original.gif
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH, is it time for pay back? I remember the pictures from my video! .... grin.gif But nice video! The story sounds good. I like it.
Very nice, and I wouldn't believe you were shy if you hadn't said, you seemed very relaxed.

However, I don't get the ending part, when the person is on the slope does the boss push him down?
Nice. you sound real British/irish (though without the accent top o the mornin to you! *is part irish*.
Well, I am real British, so that's good I suppose unsure.gif
Great pitch Rikki. BTW, I've alway thought you have an uncanny likeness to Ron Livingston Clicky
Do an avi version tongue.gif
What an awesome pitch you've there! grin.gif thumbsup.gif
