A mactard once more

Posted by , 25 May 2005 · 44 views

I'm going to be a MacDaddy for the 3rd time! Yay!

For those that are wondering what on earth I'm on about, I've bought my 3rd Mac :D Powerbook G4, 15" Combo. With summer coming up, I wanted a laptop so that I'm able to code away from my desk (preferably in the garden). I already have an iBook, but it's a second-hand 'snow' model, only 500Mhz/384Mb Ram/12" screen. It works fine, but the speed of it irritates me when I'm working, as does the 1024/768 resolution. It's fine for a couple of hours of coding but I can't use it for long periods. It'll also allow me to work on my animations rather than having to use my PC. So I decided I would step up and get myself the PB :D

Ordered on Friday, taking advantage of Apple's 6 months interest free offer, confirmed today and should ship tomorrow, hopefully getting here this Friday!

Stephen plans to buy my iBook (hence my signature) to get some OS X experience. I fully expect him to love it and buy a newer model in the near future, though he won't admit it o:)

Finally I can get away from this desk while I work on my super secret project :shifty:

Shipped :D No tracking number yet though which is annoying >_<
Cool!
Damn, I wanted your old Mac. >_< :P
You say the 1024x768 annoys you on the old mac, but the new one will have the same...? won't it?

I love my 12" powerbook (although, me girlfriend has stolen it for a wee while). the small screen and 1024x768 is it's only let down... but you get used to it. :)

Nah the new one is a 15 inch PowerBook which goes up to 1,440 x something I believe.

Have they updated it recently? When i was buying my PB (February) the max resolution for both the 12" and 15" was 1024x768 (although, it is possible i'm wrong :D )

But yeah, i just had a look at the mac site and the here is what it says :)

CODE

15.2-inch (diagonal) TFT display (15-inch models)

   * Support for millions of colours at 1280 x 854 pixel resolution
   * Support for resolutions of 1280 x 854 (native), 1152 x 768, 896 x 600, 720 x 480, and 640 x 480 pixels at 3:2 aspect ratio; 1024 x 768, 800 x 600 and 640 x 480 pixels at 4:3 aspect ratio

I couldn't afford the 15" one anyway :)

Lucki Rikki (did you see what i did with the word lucky? ain't i the best... *sorry*)

Enjoy the portable mactardness!! :D

The screen res has been the same for ages and ages! Must have read it wrong!
I'm using it right now :D So nice!
Good choice, my sister has a 15" PB (lucky devil). On a nice day I might take my iMac outside with an extension cable... would have to get my sisters PB to share the int connection over wireless :P

Glare on the screen would be the only problem.

Good news about Stephen! Won't be long now, muhahahha
The screens work pretty well outside actually. I was using it outside on Saturday fine.

After further investigation, I was talking crap :D (found a print out of the specs when i bought the 12" and it had 15" specs on it too).

I still like my 12" pb though :P

I haven't tried it outside though, don't know what it's like when the sun hits the screen.
