[ICB 1.2] So far so good

Posted by W1lz0r, 31 August 2005 · 42 views

When I take a look at the current bug reports I am pleased that there aren't that many things. Especially since the Blog code has had a major overhaul and almost everything has an edit here and there.

So where do we go from here? After having some feedback I will add some small things to the Blog. Most things are useability related. I do not want to add big things at this stage. Obviously there is some more bugfixing required. I might also add a feature, which fits in nicely with a small interface change I'm thinking about. When I have something to show, I'll post it here.

I am allready thinking about the next version (1.3 or 2.0 whichever suits best). What I have planned will not be disclosed yet. I am allways open to suggestions, so feel free to post these in the Blog forum.

On the MSSQL side of things, we saw the first release of the MSSQL driver for IPB2.1 alongside with the RC1 release. Eventho I have been running this driver for several months now (I develop on MSSQL), there still were a couple of issues which were upgrade related. I'll make sure that those will be fixed before the next release of IPB.

Oh, did I mention that I am back from holiday? Well, I'm back original.gif

Welcome back from holiday, hope you had a great time original.gif

Feature suggestion, yes.. a poll content block. Also have a link to 'Poll Archives' in it, be able to manage polls, set which one is displayed in the content block (maybe also add a random poll display so it just picks one each time it's viewed), set limit on how many polls a user is allowed to have. I think this would be a nice feature original.gif
Yea what Logan said. Yay for our combined ideas. And Wiz, welcome back mate. original.gif
I hope we will have a Latest Blog Entries block in the new IPB Portal? grin.gif

Other than that I can't really think of much atm.
The biggest thing I can think of for the next major release would be greater blog customisation. Allow the user to make their blog really unique, by changing colours, the header etc.
I agree with PabUK. Another cool Option would be to allow users to upload their own premade skins.
BTW Wiz. Will new ssi.php (from IPB 2.1) be able to fetch blog statistics?
