Long time no Blogging

Posted by W1lz0r, 28 September 2005 · 20 views

I have not been blogging for a while now, so I figured it was about time. I have been really busy the last couple of weeks.

As for ICB 1.2. I am quite happy with the release. No major flaws where found and the bugs that did come up can be classified as minor. This doesn't mean I won't be doing anything about that. In the next couple of weeks we will see a 1.2.1 release.

There will be one big change in 1.2.1 however, and that will be the change of all Blog URL's that contain cmd= to something else. It appears that mod_security is blocking the current URL's. It's a change that has to be done at some point, so 1.2.1 will have to be that point.

On the MSSQL front, we have had a couple of (minor) issues that have all been fixed. 2.1 really is a step forward for the database drivers. The new abstraction functions make live a lot easier.

Other then that I will be working on the Oracle driver to make it 2.1 compatible.

Last but not least I have compiled a list of the new features of version 1.2 of the Blog. Other stuff kept popping up, so it's a bit later then expected. Here goes:

Invision Community Blog 1.2 New Features
  • Extract tag for Blog entries
  • Entry and Blog BBCodes
  • Rich Text Editor support for entries and comments
  • Inline Blog Settings
  • Drag & Drop Content Blocks
  • Blog Editors (let others post entries in your Blog
  • Private/Private Club Categories
  • Blog locations in the online list
  • Who's viewing the Blogs
  • Improved RSS feeds
  • Added member bar with blog function buttons
  • Search, Category, Who's reading my Blog Content Blocks
  • Blog tracker
  • Portal Block for latest Blog entries
  • Allow local Blogs without external Blogs permission
  • Quick edit for comments
  • Moderate About Me and Custom Content Blocks
  • Breadcrumb trail (full or local to Blog)
  • Entry polls
So not too bad for a point release if I say so myself shifty.gif

If that's .1, I can't wait to see what v2 includes. grin.gif
Content blocks with polls (Ability to make a bunch of polls, and display them randomly in the content block would be neat too) let's hope original.gif
Any chance of adding the feature to edit date in either draft or published date in IB 1.2.1   reason I asked is because if one create a entry and saved as draft and forgot all about it  and want to publish it on that date it was created instead of as now.   that such feature is available in all other blog software like movabletype or such.
