The next version of the Blog will feature (on popular demand) the possibility to moderate the trackbacks put on entries. This is to prevent mallicious users trying to post unwanted links via the trackback feature.
In the current version you can switch the trackback off to prevent it, but that is an all or nothing method.
The solution I have implemented works as follows:
- When a user has trackback moderation or the Blog owner has moderate own Blog permissions, the user is able to moderate the trackbacks; this means he/she is able to delete trackbacks made on entries.
- Second the Blog owner can enable 'Approve trackbacks'. In this scenario each trackback posted on the entries need to be approved for others to see them.
The option to switch of trackbacks entirely still remains.
I think this is a welcome addition that gives the user all the tools he needs to be able to prevent unwanted trackback posts.
