IP.Blog 1.3 progress

Posted by W1lz0r, 27 June 2006 · 90 views

The next version of the Blog is still in heavy development. What has happened recently?

I have finished the new installer for the Blog. This installer uses the new IP Product Installer framework which is quite nice. However it still required a lot of work to change it so it could do installs and upgrades with logon etc. I am quite pleased with the end result. I will hold of posting screenshots for now, but expect them at some point.

I added CAPTCHA support for guest comments. The spam bots are quite active lately and this should stop them from spamming your Blog (even if you allow guest posts). This is in addition to the allready in place approve of comments.

There also have been a lot of code tweaks and changes required to make it fully IPB2.2 compatible.

There is more... but I will give Matt the honors for reveiling it shifty.gif

On the MSSQL side; I have been working on the MSSQL driver for IPB2.2. I also decided it will give the user the option to connect using ADODB over COM instead of PHP's MSSQL extension. I allready had a driver version that could connect using ADODB over COM. I now integrated it into one driver.

Stay tuned for more.

Spam comments is currently being a very important problem for me.
Captcha  will be very nice !

Can't wait the release and futur adds !!

Thanks for your work !
Ben
Will the blog become a component?  Why is it currently an automodule as of now and not a component already?
will the blog ever support user's own skin?
