The Converge integration for Nexus is now complete and all of our tests have gone really well so far. Essentially Converge will allow you to use an existing database to authenticate your users with. This means that your users will no longer need to maintain separate user/pass combinations for each section of your website.
The Converge integration is handled transparently by Nexus, you're users don't leave Nexus in order to authorize with Converge. The client area login form will remain, it will simply authenticate against Converge instead of Nexus. When a new user orders something from Nexus, a Converge login will be created 'behind the scenes'. When that same user visits your forum, they'll be able to use that same login without ever registering on your forum.
Converging Nexus requires no setup from within Nexus itself. You'll simply tell Converge the URL of your Nexus install, and it will then setup Nexus to begin using Converge. If you have members already in your Nexus DB, you can import them from Converge as well. At this point Nexus is using Converge, there's nothing more that needs to be done.
If at some point you decide you don't want Nexus to be converged, you can remove it from the admin cp of Converge. Nexus maintains its own user base, even while converged, so if you unconverge all of your users will still have access to their Nexus accounts.
So where does that leave the first public beta? Well I'm happy to say that the beta itself is now done. We still need to pull together some basic info on the website, as well as finish the preliminary documentation. I've just reviewed the latest draft of the documentation, and it's coming along really well. I don't know what day we will open the beta, but it won't be long! We can't wait to hear what all of our customers have to say about Nexus, we really hope that you will find it useful for your business.
