Nexus: The Manual

Posted by Josh, 27 July 2006 · 577 views

Long time no blog!  First off I apologize for the lack of entries, I'm going to try and do better with my blog in the future.

I thought you may find this image interesting, it's a printed copy of the current Nexus manual:

[attachmentid=237]

It's currently weighing in at 130 pages, with several sections left still.  My guesstimate is that the final page count will be around 160 pages.  We may post the documentation before the actual public beta, so that everyone can start getting a feel for Nexus before being dumped into the middle of it.

The final manual will be available in PDF format, and possibly in print form as well.  Same goes for the IPB 2.2 documentation, which is now complete.  For those curious, the IPB documentation comes in at about 127 pages.

Now, see, when you guys (like 6 months ago) said all that was left was the documentation I was expecing a few KB articles or something like that. Not a freaking BOOK! Now I fully understand why things have taken so long shocked.gif

Keep up the good work Josh/Rikki/et al!
Same here, shocked.gif , great job on it Rikki and Josh, look forward to seeing Nexus out soon! thumbsup.gif
Nice work Josh. As always, I look forward to getting my hands on Nexus. It sounds like you have been developing a great product. original.gif
*thud*

Nice work Rikki and Josh.
Thanks once again for the update Josh. I'm still looking forward to Nexus as much as ever grin.gif .
Woah looks good. Can't wait.
How's it going now?

Are there any more updates or any news to tell us about in regards to Nexus?

I'd like to know how the progression of this product is coming along, and how much longer you speculate the documentation is going to take to complete, along with the new site. original.gif
Will you guys make a book with that doucmenation and then sell it somewhere.

phpBB does that with there manual and it would be cool if IPB did that with theres. Also one quick question?

Where is the manual for IPB? I never saw it in the client center

I agree, I think that'd be a nice marketing idea and possibly a success!

Anyway, I know I'd buy a copy and a few others would as well, for both Nexus and IPB. thumbsup.gif

The IPB manual has been written for 2.2, so it will be available when 2.2 is original.gif I believe selling a printed copy of the manuals has been considered, but I'm not sure if any decision has been made regarding it.

I for one think that would be an excellent idea- and it may actually encourage more than 2% of people who use the software to actually read the documentation  laughing.gif
