This plugin enhances IP.Board's built-in tag and prefix system, providing custom styling and fine-grained control over prefixes, as well as some helpful moderation tools. Prefixes are explicitly created through the Admin CP, and can be chosen when creating a topic.

Plugin Benefits and Features:
  • Define all prefixes manually through the Prefix Manager--even for open-tag systems.
  • Add, fix, and remove tags and prefixes in bulk with new administrative tools.
  • Choose a prefix when posting, separate from the tag input.
  • Have greater control over where and how tags and prefixes are displayed.
  • Add custom HTML formatting to your prefixes everywhere they appear.
  • Use an image as a prefix.
  • Limit who can use a prefix.
  • Limit where a prefix can be used.
  • Require a prefix to be chosen in some forums.
  • Add tags and prefixes to topics in bulk with Multi-Moderation.
  • Apply a prefix to topics imported from RSS.
  • Add a default prefix and tags to all new topics in a forum.
  • Allow users to enter custom tags in some forums and not others.
  • Show prefixes to users of the mobile skin.
  • ... And more!
Advanced Tags & Prefixes is constantly maintained and updated, with new features added on almost every release. If you want something that's not yet included, why not ask?

The latest version requires IP.Board 3.4. Earlier versions are available for IP.Board 3.1, 3.2, and 3.3. Installation consists only of uploading a folder and running through the install wizard.

.

Just purchased this today and it works great with the new IPB 3.2

Had a question after I installed it and Ryan H. provided excellent and fast assistance to me.

I highly recommend this add-on! Great for SEO :D
Great App!

Adds some very important features to the tag system. Highly recommended.
Scratch my last comment. It's not an issue with the modification. It's actually down to an IPB 3.2.3 issue, which Ryan has kindly provided a fix for: http://community.inv...-tags-editable/

wow this mod sucks i paid 15 bucks and now when i want to access a forum it gives error 500.i am in disgust.

This points to a server issue as a 500 is a generic error
Superb mod, very good support. Easy and fast installation!
Hi Ryan

I've been thinking about buying this mod for a while now, but there is something essential that's missing. For all of us who haven't been using tags (IPB tags are just a new feature and all those millions of posts and communities who existed prior to the addition of tags to IPB's latest release) have only the new posts that will feature the use of tags by the members. Of course, you can say that the older topics can edited to add tags, but what if (in all likelihood) there is a million older posts, so then what? Will the moderators and members have to edit each and every old post to include tags? You do understand what i'm hinting at? We need a search/parsing system for your modification that will go through all the posts on the IPB forum and automatically add the tags and prefixes, which are set in the ACP based on specific criteria. For example, you could set certain specific keywords in the post, so that when searching to add tags to the topic, if the first post of the topic contains the word "sale" then the tag and/or prefix "sale" should be edited into the topic automatically. Get my point? It would make full use of IPB's innate new tag feature. Please take this into consideration for your next release, which will be soon, i hope!
Shaks,

I added such a feature in the last update. :) See this screenshot: http://community.inv...&id=3324&full=1 You can't search by first post contents, only topic title, but that might be something I can add in the next update.
Thank you for considering the suggestions, Ryan. I will continue this discussion in the support thread. This is indeed a fantastic mod and i'm very eagerly waiting for the new improved version. Consider me first in line to buy it when it's available!
Ryan,

I wanted to thank you for your work on this mod, this is filling a very large hole in the current implementation of tagging on the IPS platform. That said, I totally agree with Shaks, it needs to be able to search the content of the OP, because general members rarely construct really descriptive titles on their posts as I'm sure most of us are very well aware. ;)

Tags present a fantastic way for sites to be able to pull together disparate content types that share a common topic. It's a great way to categorize a site's content, but the usefulness of tagging is in direct proportion to how MUCH content on a site is tagged. And as pointed out, pre-existing sites (I.E. virtually all users of the IPS Platform) will have the vast majority of their content untagged, and even new sites will find that members often don't bother to add tags.

What would be awesome, would be:

1. The ability to manually run a search for a tag/keyword in ANY of the apps (one at a time if needed), then apply that tag to all the results.
2. The ability to schedule a cron job that runs through and tags any new posts/blog entries/gallery content/IP.C database entries etc created in the previous day.
3. The ability to build a page that displays various content types that match a given tag, a "landing page" that shows you everything you could want to know about that topic. :) Google and the other SE's would absolutely DEVOUR an appropriately titled page like that that was updated once a day, every other day or something similar.

I'm well aware that the above is absolutely non-trivial. :) If you have any interest, we'd be more than happy to help subsidize the development, ESP of #3 above, it would be a huge traffic generator for us.

James
James,

I actually implemented most of shaks' suggestions in the update a couple weeks ago, including searching the first post for keywords. I'd encourage you to upgrade if you've not already done so.

Regarding your own suggestions, I can tell you off the bat that #1 and 2 are unlikely to happen in the near future, partly because I don't actually own any of the additional applications, and partly because each additional application supported in that manner would dramatically increase development time, bugs, and code size and complexity. I have been attempting to accomodate al applications as much as possible; this is most clear in prefix styles taking effect globally, and the tag manager giving per-app control. Both cases are sufficiently abstract to avoid the icky details of each application, though.

As for #3, I can absolutely see the appeal, and that's something I'll strongly consider for future development. Thanks.
