One more function, which should be embedded by default, but isn't.
This hook will check every X seconds (10 by default) for new unread PM + Notifications (if any) and update indicators.
It will also put count into the title of all pages like Twitter or Facebook.
Lets stay on trends
This will bring more interaction to your community.
Note: Hook has been renamed to (DDK33) Instant Notifications starting from v2.0.0.
Tips & Tricks: Don't forget to configure your boards notification defaults - [AdminCP -> Members -> Notification Defaults]. This will affect new coming members to receive more notifications just from the beginning. By default many push notifications are disabled in IPB, unfortunatelly.

Compatibility is changed to 3.3.x only. PM & Notifications templates in 3.2 are too different from 3.3, so hook does loose almost all functionality. So, no sense to install this hook on 3.2 at all.
Great. IPS need to implement it by default.

Does this put any extra strain on a server?
It will do as it will make requests every x amount of seconds. If you see strain add x more seconds to the checkDoes this put any extra strain on a server?
This is great hook for avid facebook users.
i think a new features is if the comes a *peep* sound if there is a new notification... so i know there is a new content, if i dont on the desktop....
