Yeah i noticed this on my windows host, but not on my linux host. Not a 100% sure what is causing it, but I will be looking into it and looking into ways of improving this step in the application. as for task, i've noticed they are unreliable as they require some one to be browsing the site for it to happen, but i might make it an option for those who would like it to be that way.

Happens on our linux server too. Really quite slow editing a post with 20 odd videos in it :P

If videos went into the system on post create/edit, and the thumbnails/descriptions were populated by a task at a later point, that'd be pretty sweet! :)

Another suggestion, but maybe quite a bit of work. Posting topics can take quite some time, I guess it's being held up by going off to YouTube to grab the forum description and thumb. Could it be made into a task that runs every 5 minutes or so?

not sure what you mean here.

    do you want to:

    1. take images in the forum, and post them in a hook like videos.
    2. take images from the forums and place them in gallery.
    3. something else.

as i've mentioned in a previous thread, this is probably going to be turned in an application later on, as i'm getting a lot of great suggestions for this, and the hook format doesn't suit some of those suggestions very well. so over the course of the next few weeks i will start working on turning this into an application and releasing it (don't worry as i've said before any one who has purchased the hook will be 'upgraded' to the application free of charge and like the hook there will be no renewal).

I would like to see it as option 2 :)

Suggestion: task to scrape videos from old topics :)

It will grab embedded videos in posted in the forum and then put them in a sidebar? So technically, I could embed videos in a hidden admin forum and have it grab them from there?

yeah, i think it respects forum permissions though so you might have to be clever on how you set up the permissions for the hidden forum.

you can manually type in links somewhere instead of posting them on a hidden forum? (if you don't want to make random posts just to make videos appear in the sidebar).

    no

Would suggest making a hidden forum, create an xml feed from your youtube channel, get IPB to post new topics into a hidden forum from the xml feed (does IPB still do that? It did a few years ago...), and get this system to scrape videos from the hidden forum.

    Also, does it support vimeo?

Looks great! I will probably use it just for the hook to show the latest video on board index.

Is there a task to go through existing topics and extract all the videos?

Just run mysqltuner.pl or tuning-primer.sh and change the values to what they say. That's a good start!

Domain monster.com is good. Move your domain, then set up a subdomain with an a record. It's not straight forward if you don't really know what you're doing though!

The HTML above with this css should work. You need to give your divs widths for them to appear, unless they have some content within them.
