I suppose a good snippet of information could be just to announce what state the development is in, i.e pre-alpha, alpha etc, then people can make their own guesses. I did that when I used to develop on the Amiga, and it seemed to keep people happy.
I doubt you'll ever see and end to the "when will it be ready" question as most of us are impatient.
Great system, takes the crap out of setting it all up.
On a side note though (unless I'm missing something), you seem to have missed the part on setting up the categories in the readme file. I worked it out, but I just thought I'd let you know for any users that aren't familiar with it all.
Not sure if any of these have been mentioned, or are planned but here goes.
1. Read-ahead tags. I.e you start typing in a tag and if it's already been used before it will list it for you to choose. So say I type tod and the tags today and todo have been used previously, they will pop up as suggestions.
2. The ability to type your own tags and select from a predefined list. Currently we can only allow users to either make up their own, or choose from some predefined ones. A combination of the two would also be a nice option.
Not everyone wants to, and not everyone can. If you want everyone to know your name and see your picture, you can stick with Facebook. Post your real name on a forum and your picture and you'll eventually find it popping up in search engines for years to come. I don't walk about on the street with a name tag on my t-shirt, I give my name out to people who need to know. I don't think people need to see my face on here, nor know my name as I'm only on here for support reasons etc. Also, let's say someone runs a military forum for ex and currently serving soldiers to meet online to share news etc. It wouldn't be the wisest thing to have their real names and photos splashed all over the site. But as you take very little of what people say (without a real name or picture), I don't suppose what I'm saying is of any importance. Also, if avatars are childish and unprofessional, then I suppose everyone in this thread other than you, is childish and unprofessional, as it seems it's only you that's using a picture of yourself, that is indeed if that's really you (as people can always lie about their identity anyway).
What I'm trying to say, is we should be given the option, not told what to do.
Yes I noticed that I can see who has given me rep, however I can no longer view who has given other members negative or positive rep. I used to be able to do this, so has it changed, or is there something wrong with my board?
I take it the option has been removed to see who has given you negative and positive rep? I have the rep type set to positive and negative, but when I click on the rep number in the thread there is no longer a popup box with that information in.
EDIT: I just noticed it actually works on mine, but I can't see who has negative repped other members.... I used to be able to do it.
Nexus should fit your bill. I only use it to sell physical products so I don't know about the digital side. But I'm fairly sure it can do all that (not sure about the last two though).
Either way, you won't be disappointed as it's constantly being updated. I asked for a feature to be added once, and Mark e-mailed me back asking for my opinion on the implementation of it, which you don't often get from developers. So if you're looking for a product that integrates perfectly with you other IP products, is constantly updated, is fast and secure, then you can't go wrong with Nexus.
