You can fix that under the BB code/media tag section in the admin cp I am certain. Or maybe not. LOL... Forgot it was even there. Groan... I use 3.34 and mine always worked with IE when not using https and now works for even https now. Are you using mixed content? Most IPB sites have it somewhat. I just have 1 thing to fix yet I think and I a 100% http on all pages.. And that shouldn't be a problem.
Ok if this was so easy to fix why did it take me eternity to fix it, and no one could give the 1 minute instructions? Groan.... This is to help everyone else.
-In admin CP, go to look and feel, post content, manage media tag. Change all http to https ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Lastly, go to look and feel, post content, bb code management. Change the example to http for the heck of it Under Content Cache Enabled Check off yes to drop all cache items. This will fix videos posted previously.
No one answered you either? Are you serving up mixed content by using https for the site, and http video links? If so you have to enable mixed content in IE. Or break the ssl in chrome by clicking the shield. The thing is, your average visitor has no clue, so the quality of the forum suffers. Now I have actually figured out how to post videos that are static content and added only by me. I have a featured video on my sidebar, and used html code to make it work under https.. I also have videos as part of articles, and I used the code there also. But obviously we can't allow visitors to use html. I wonder if there is a way we could insert this code into a configuration file somewhere? Now I remember reading some time ago that mixed content was a serious security issue with IPB forums. Is this no longer an issue? Would we be safer using no SSL vs. mixed?
Here is my post, I fixed my problem. http://community.invisionpower.com/topic/404933-https-and-youtube/
Are there any file edits we can do to get youtube videos to work on our site with ssl? Most visitors have no clue what mixed content even is. Now for static youtube content, I can use coding. But for posts etc, what can I do?
Update, they got the site back up over 24 hours later. The hard disk had a write error and some things got jumbled. This was totally inexcusable for fully managed. I am getting a new web host.
Thank you to everyone trying to help me. I guess I need to brush up on my putty skills. I already have and tried the puttygen and couldn't get it to work. Putty kept rejecting my pass code for my key file. But now I can set up both private and public putty keys without having to hotwire things. Whew!
Can you help me? I use ssh over sftp with smartftp with a key file and do not allow passwords via whm controls. I have full access to all my files. Anyways, putty wants a putty key file that ends in ppk. I tried making a new copy of my key file with that extension and it didn't work.
Can you believe that I have a fully managed server (thus why my skills are rusty)? Snicker..... Snicker....
For starters, I am trying to cover all the bases here. My perpetual license is showing expired, would they have disabled my websites software? Can they even do this? I asked customer service but they never responded.
, This is my error message:
My WHM and cpanel will not load either. I can use Sftp to see all my files and my logs show no issues. Although I can see all my files, my VPS says that it is not running in Solus.
Well, Right now I am using Bitdefender and its browser bar conflicts with MAB active protection in IE. But not the MAB scanner. Not certain if I want to keep using Bd or not. Likely will.... BD has been coming up perfect or near perfect for monthly zero day comparison testing at AV Comparatives. And steadily 100% at a lab in Europe. Kaspersky let me down big time... But Hitman pro runs fine with BD.
On a good note, in paranoid firewall mode I have found out that there isn't much of anything in windows that doesn't phone home. Plus is gathering aggregate data on everyone and whisking it off regularly.. But Microsoft insists that it is on approval by the user only. Well, if no one knows about this, then how did anyone approve? I shut that baby right down in task scheduler and its service.
Even IE phones home for every download if you want to prevent malware. This one is not enabled though.. So you have a choice, privacy or malware.. Groan....
