  1. ASTRAPI added a post in a topic: I need help setting up a new server

Centos is better and you will be able to find more tutorials on the net as the most Admins prefer it from other OS's
It is better to try to do it without cpanel ....
Until the end of the week i am very busy and i will not be able to help

  4. ASTRAPI added a post in a topic: IPS4 speed

The biggest performance advantage for IPB4 will be the easy way to cache guests that already works on beta
I didn't have the time to benchmark if it is faster using the onboard option with Memcache for example or if it is faster to do it in the hard way with Nginx fcgi cache ....
Xenforo can do that also with a few edits (not so easy as one click on IPB) and not out of the box solution as some lines of custom coding needed to get the magic HIT ...
Xenforo has every query optimized one by one and they seems to do a very good job at it !
Invision is more easy to use and more good looking with more hooks than Xenforo so more flexible...
Xenforo  at the moment seems to be more secure.....
So there are a lot to think before you compare both products...
Also comparing the products by visiting the homepages of them is  wrong !!!!!!
We do not know what hardware they use.
We do not know how they optimize each server.
We do not know what caching methods they use and how they configure it.
We do not know if anyone is using any Ram partition..
We do not know if they use Myisam or Innodb ....
And i can type for days more and more as performance is not something that depends from one or two things...
I hope to see soon Official IPB forum to use Nginx as it is a lot faster than Apache :)

My recommendation was about performance and for sure he will get a much faster forum with unshared resources with a budget dedicated server than a vps !
Budget server doesn't mean always something bad....and in the most cases they will not offer managment for the server or they delay to respond to support tickets....
Hardware failures can happen anytime to any server !
Every customer should think what they need and then go for it or not.

    Hi Herofiles
As Rhett post there is no easy way to calculate what you want without more details....
If you are talking about: wallbase.no as i can see in your signature and if your vps provider do not oversell vps accounts according to server resources then yes 100% you can manage it with this specifications and for the 5k images are very very low number ! (I already deal with more than 200GB of images for a client of me on a simple ssd without Raid)
You can also try Cloudflare as it will help a lot with your static files like images....and is free
But i am sure that you can find a dedicated server with very low price like 15-20 euro per month....and get all resources used only by you and all your problems gone !

Nice to hear that your server is running well now
  10. ASTRAPI added a post in a topic: Something is causing runaway PHP processes and I cant find what

The author says that he has 4 CPU and 15GB mem and my recommendation maximum and only if he go that high he will use  5gb .... so a lot of ram for the rest....
Yesterday i solve the exact problem for a client and the problem was the sql and that's will be my next recommendation to check if the above will not work....
But without checking the server is not so easy to find exactly what the problem is....

Open a ticket as AndyF suggest and if you need any help post here again
  12. ASTRAPI added a post in a topic: Very Slow Registration

Give us some more details like:
What kind of server do you use? Dedicated?
    Cpu?Ram?
Run a top and post here the results when you have the problem....
Also do the same with mysqltuner script and post here...
  13. ASTRAPI added a post in a topic: Very Slow Registration

Hard to say without checking but it may be a problem with your mysql.....
Is everything else working fast on the forum like creating a topic or post in the forum?
