    Not sure how I would use

    new Ajax.Request( ipb.vars['base_url'] + "app=myapp&module=ajax&section=mysection&do=doAction",     {     method: 'post',     evalJSON: 'force',     parameters: {     'md5check': ipb.vars['secure_hash'],     'string': $('some-id').encodeParam()     },     onSuccess: function(t)     {     if( Object.isUndefined( t.responseJSON ) )     {     alert( "Bad Request" );     }     else if ( t.responseJSON['error'] )     {     alert( t.responseJSON['error'] );     }     else     {     alert( "Successful!" );     }     }     });
    http://www.invisionpower.com/support/guides/_/advanced-and-developers/user-interface/sending-ajax-requests-r207  Isn't too clear.

    Am trying to learn from example... making some progress, reading about the prototype framework.

    Looking at the public/js folder I am trying to understand an example from an app I have bought.

      var _videos = window.IPBoard;   _videos.prototype.videos = {

    What does all this mean?  The app is the video app.

    Also,  the module goes on to define funcitons in the JS file in form

      functionname:function(e) {   }
    How would this be called?  Why are javascript function not defined as

      function functionname() {   }
    ?

    I'm trying to get my head around ajax in IPB.

    Is there a detailed example I could read through?

    I've tried to read  http://www.invisionpower.com/support/guides/_/advanced-and-developers/user-interface/sending-ajax-requests-r207

    but, what I would also like is to see where the

    <?php class public_myapplication_ajax_mysection extends ipsAjaxCommand { public function doExecute( ipsRegistry $registry ) {    $this->returnJsonArray( array( 'success' => 1, 'message' => 'Your request was successful!' ) ); } } ?>
    can be called from in my class or source?

    I'd also like to see how a realtime ajax request would work, to reflect in realtime a change to a database record.

    ouch.
  5. cctex added a post in a topic: Call class public function from public/private module.

    Say I have the following class,

      <?php   /*   */       if( ! defined( 'IN_IPB' ) )   {   print "<h1>Incorrect access</h1>You cannot access this file directly. If you have recently upgraded, make sure you upgraded all the relevant files.";   exit;   }   class class_myclass {   public function __construct( ipsRegistry $registry )   {   $this->registry   = $registry;   $this->DB         = $this->registry->DB();   $this->settings   =& $this->registry->fetchSettings();   $this->request    = $this->registry->request();   $this->lang       = $this->registry->getClass('class_localization');   $this->member     = $this->registry->member();   $this->memberData =& $this->registry->member()->fetchMemberData();   $this->cache      = $this->registry->cache();   $this->caches     =& $this->registry->cache()->fetchCaches();          }         public function myclass_helloworld() {   return "myclass says hello.";   }           }

    How would I call myclass_helloworld() in  a public module?

    I tried,

    $messagefromclass = $this->registry->getClass('class_myclass')->myclass_helloworld();
    but this did not work,

    I got error

    Uncaught exception 'Exception' with message 'class_myclass is not an object'
  6. cctex added a post in a topic: Applications under 4.0

    I'm a slow developer, new to it so learning a lot... and I like to develop applications for my own community.   I also like to keep my board software up to date, learning about the intentions for 4.0
    that apps will be more self contained, how compatable will existing apps be? What are the application areas that I should pay close attention to, if I want to remain compatible with 4.0?

  7. cctex added a post in a topic: appname_mysql_inserts.php

    I'm having a go at creating an application.

    As part of the install process...

    Is it possible to split {appname}_mysql_inserts.php in to
    {appname}_mysql_inserts_1.php
    {appname}_mysql_inserts_2.php etc....

    Would the board software pick these up when installing an application?

    Hey,

    I'm working on a local Ubuntu install.

    Okay, a work around I found was to turn on off friendly urls and mod rewrite file in SEO settings.

    But it would be nice to have a dev board with furls and mod rewrite enabled.

    I'm developing on 3.4.0 board.

    So,

    I've decided to dip my toe in to a little bit of board development, found the following guideline.

    http://community.invisionpower.com/resources/guides.html/_/advanced-and-developers/miscellaneous/developers-mode-r147

    I created my offline copy of my community, ran through the above steps, and used "buildInDev.php"

    When I then visit the board, the front page looks okay... links to forums no longer blue, but black, and when
    I click on a link to a forum, or an application like blog for example, I get,

    The requested URL /blogs/ was not found on this server.

    This was a full working offline version and blogs was working before.

    I am also in (  IN_DEV , 1) mode.

    Is this expected behavior of a board under development mode?  What can I do to fix it?

    Thanks.

    Hmm, I did this last night.  No joy, have you updated these files since?

    The error logs I was checking are in the root of your forum, a file called error_log

    I'm not actually able to find anything in the latest download readme file.

    Do you have a more direct link to the fix?
