Remember to change some General Configuration settings like:
    Path to 'upload' directory
    Upload URL
    Images URL
    and perhaps?:
    Community name:

Yes, I can do that in my own client area for my own licensed site, but not in the client area for the alternate contact, as the alternate contact has no permission to download packages.
So, as an admin on another ones licensed site, I depend on his staff to download packages and make them available to me. The upgrade option in the IPS 4.0 beta AdminCP is also not usable to me as the admin if I have to submit the owner IPS account password.
  4. Machsterdaemon added a post in a topic: Version upgrade and download permission in the AdminCP

When upgrading to a new version in the 4.0 beta AdminCP you require the IPS account username and password, but that is not always a practical solution to keep the community software up to date.
In my own case I not only have my own license but I'm also an administrator on another license owner site, with full admin permission, and I do all the site management on my own.
When a new version is available I have to contact the staff of the owner to ask them to download new version and make it available to me. This is very impractical in my own case.
I'm in the process of testing IPS 4.0 beta versions and you have now made a new version available, so now I need to contact the owner staff again to make them download the new version and make it available to me. There will come more test releases and maintenance releases when the final version has been released so this is very impractical in my own case.
What I want to suggest is that:
You make the upgrade available to the admin that has permission to use it and not just the IPS account. That a new package is downloaded and made available at a later useIf this is not acceptable to you, then please consider to give upgrade and download permission to the alternative contact too.

Upgrade error on a test site after submitting license key
I was in the the process of testing 4.0 beta 3 upgrade when the script gave error before it started the upgrade process.
    This is the error output:
An unknown error occurredThe error came after I submitted the required license key.
The admin is not accessible and gives the same error.
This is done on a test site on the same domain as the licensed siteThe test site started by using a duplicated database, or the same as the licensed site-TESTINSTALL was inserted on the end of the license key when asked when running the upgrade scriptThe same license key using -TESTINSTALL was submitted/updated on the test site day beforeIPS was contacted the same day to make sure if the TESTINSTALL key was acceptable on the test site

What about the folder with the smileys? It is needed if you have custom smileys?

    Very nice thank you!
  8. Machsterdaemon added a post in a topic: Using the standalone utf8 converter script vs. the built in 4.0 upgrade

Is it possible under normal circumstances to use the built in utf8 converter in the 4.0 upgrade script when upgrading from 3.4.6 to 4.0 on a medium sized community database with more than million posts?
  9. Machsterdaemon added a post in a topic: Support tickets and alternative contact

I've been made as alternative contact for one license owner and I have been responding to ticket which the license owner or his staff submitted.

What I don't like is that my own tickets for my own board through the years are not separated from the tickets that the other license owner has submitted.

I would like to see that these tickets from these two different license owner being separated and have their own section.

What I would like to see improved is the ability to either sort the File Checker and Deep Scan result by date, or to export the result so it can be managed more easily.

He probably meant the file manager in cPanel.

Edit: wait, he doesn't have internet?

Also it would be nice to have the ability to set meta description for each forums as Google suggests that I could improve the meta descriptions for the forums, saying that it is too short. Right now I don't have the knowledge to do this myself.

I know that some modifications are available for this kind of improvements but I haven't tried them as I really don't know how they work, thinking maybe they have too many features and perhaps taking too much control with some repercussions along the way if one is not careful enough, I really don't know.

Invision has done great seo related improvements with IPB3 but I would like to see much further improvements as long as Invision has the time and resources for the continuing seo optimization work.

One other thing I really liked this summer was the robots file included in the new release as I think it is important to give some directions to the friendly robots, telling them that some pages are of no importance. This makes the indexing much cleaner, decreasing "useless" indexed pages and "duplicate" entries and perhaps taking some load off the server in some cases.

But the included robots file is just basic and much more could be added to it, but some of it is perhaps just a personal choice.
