possible solution if you don't have the funds, try the community hosting they have a variety of packages and pay on a monthly basis. You can always than purchase the ip board at a later date and keep all your data.
I am a senior lady with little or no technical knowledge but I have to take the time to commend IP for the well put together upgrade. It took me some time to adjust to the admin panel and of course there was a learning curve in designing. I am no professional but everything I do is self taught. I didn't try my hand at upgrading but I own 2 boards and both were upgraded for me in 24 hours. Members on my recipe forum really like it and have given me positive feedback. I must say IP and everyone behind it, Charles, Matt and all staff a job well done, thought out for the little person like me with no technical knowledge whatsoever and the expertise. We all have something we don't like and nothing is perfect in this world but this is a far superior piece of software, well worth the price and I can say that from experience as I have used and designed for most every kind of forum software. kudos to all behind the scenes for a job well done and it was worth the wait.
I have a friend who is interested in perhaps using IP board for her family style forum. I see that 3.2 is now available in final. My question is if she purchases a community hosting package what version will she receive. I told her to wait till 3.2 goes final but want to be sure that is the version she will get.
I purchased IP Content for my Designing Forum but I am not using it on that board. I also have a just started community hosted forum and am wondering can I use that on the community hosted board instead of purchasing it again and if I can will support install it for me.
I read the post on the improvements going to be offered for the community hosting. I am interested in the new starter package you will be offering for $5 a month and am wondering when this will be available. I am thinking of opening a small new fun community as right now I only have a skin resource board and I have some friends who would like to have a more fun community board.
I had two boards on IPBFree that I was using for storage. I was actually converting all of the skin themes that I had offered free to IPBfree members and was still in the process of using them. I think I lost over 25,000 posts and more than 600 members were on that board. It was officially offline when I moved to IPB but I had many problems with being hacked into, security was pretty lax I think more because of the software than the owner so I moved. Just so everyone knows there is no way of getting the data on your forum like here unless the owner gives it to you and as far as I know he did not. There were some very large forums on there and I am sure it was upsetting. One of my complaints always was the lack of responsibility on the owners part but I can't say if that corrected after I left IPBfree, it might have improved. This may also just like me get those owners to now move to IPB and start over as I did. Boy am I glad I jumped the ship when I did.
I did this a while back when I started with IP Community hosting. I than purchased a license and chose the silver hosting package. I had no disruption at all. What happened support removed the encoded files and I even stayed on the same server. Everything went very smoothly and I didn't even notice any kind of change. Now I just pay for the webhosting.
