    AMAZING.

    This is exactly what I have been looking for. Works great. Thanks!

    Yes, that would be great!
  3. openfire added a post in a topic: Auto Reply to PMs

    It seems that this won't allow attachments in the auto reply?

    Is there a way to enable attachments?

    Awesome! I just bought this... I would love to see this for 4.0 also!

    This is AWESOME!

    Just to add to the above... The bug happens when 'minimum attachments' is set to 0. Setting 'minimum attachments' to 1 corrects the problem, but then only pulls topics with at least 1 attachment.

    Possible bug found...

    When there are 10 consecutive new topics without attachments in the feed, it totally breaks the page -- I get a white screen full of jibberish.

    It's corrected and returns to normal when at least 1 topic with an attachment is added into the 10 most recent topics in the feed.
  8. openfire added a post in a topic: Automatic poll for new topics

    O.K. I've come up with a hack that automatically creates a predefined poll for every new topic in a specified forum...

    <Disclaimer>
    It's not pretty, as I'm not a coder and I have no clue how to properly create hooks, etc...But this is working on 3.4.6. and does the job I need it to do. Also be awawe that you will lose this if you upgrade as we're editing core files which are prone to being over-written.
    </Disclaimer>

    First, create the poll that you would like to have as your default poll and take note of the topic ID. Then, go into PHPMyAdmin and browse the polls table. Locate the row that corresponds to the topic ID of your poll. Copy everything from the choices field and paste it into notepad.

    In classPost.php, (admin/applications/forums/sources/classes/post/) find the second instance of:
    //----------------------------------------- // Add the poll to the polls table //----------------------------------------- then add below:
    $pollmust = $this->DB->buildAndFetch( array( 'select' => '*', 'from' => 'polls', 'where' => "tid= {$topic['tid']}" ) ); if((!$pollmust['pid']) AND ($topic['forum_id']=='ENTER DESIRED FORUM ID HERE')) { $updateTopicTable['poll_state'] = 1; $update_array['poll_state'] = 1; $this->DB->update( 'topics', array( 'poll_state' => 1 ), 'tid='.$topic['tid'] ); $_pollData = array( 'tid' => $topic['tid'], 'forum_id' => $this->getForumData('id'), 'start_date' => IPS_UNIX_TIME_NOW, 'choices' => 'PASTE EVERYTHING FROM CHOICES IN POLL TABLE', 'starter_id' => $this->getAuthor('member_id'), 'votes' => 0, 'poll_question' => ipsRegistry::$request['poll_question'], 'poll_only' => $poll_only ); /* Data Hook Location */ IPSLib::doDataHooks( $_pollData, 'postAddReplyPoll' ); $this->DB->insert( 'polls', $_pollData ); } Save and re-upload.

    Thanks for that code BomAle. If I read it correctly, your code forces people to add a poll to a new topic... Almost what I'm looking for, but not quite...

    I'm trying to figure out a way for a predefined poll to be automatically added to new topics without any user intervention... I'm sure it's possible, just not sure how to do it...

    I need this as well...

    Anyone know if there is a hook to accomplish this?

    Worked like a charm!

    Thanks!
  12. openfire added a post in a topic: Move poll block below first post

    Wow, thanks for laying it out in such detail, it is greatly appreciated!

    I will try this in the morning and report back!
  13. openfire added a post in a topic: Move poll block below first post

    I have a forum where the poll questions cannot logically be answered without reading the first post, as the poll questions relate directly to what the original poster has written. In this case, it only makes sense to position the poll directly below the first post.  Is this possible?

    I'm assuming that I have to edit the topicview template, but I'm not sure how to target the spot below the first post...

    Any tips to point me in the right direction?

    Was this ever created? I'm looking for this modification as well...
