  1. Maalong added a post in a topic: "Paste as plain text by default" - when we will be able to turn on this option for all existing and future users in ACP?

I agree, paste as plain text should be default, paste with formatting as an option.

Fantastic! Been waiting for this, and it works perfectly! Thank you!
  3. Maalong added a comment on a blog entry: IP.Gallery 5.0: Smaller Changes

I have the gallery feed block in use on my IP Content homepage. It shows random photos from a single album. Will this still be possible when the new release is published?
  4. Maalong added a post in a topic: IP Content Update Suggestion - Archives

This is the block template, where would I add that in? (sorry, have no idea about PHP):

Could you show me how to change it so that by clicking into the links below would be changed they would go to the relevant archives?

  6. Maalong added a post in a topic: IP Content Update Suggestion - Archives

I posted about this in the IP Content Support forum here: http://community.invisionpower.com/topic/364332-where-do-archived-articles-go/

Would it be possible to include a better link to archives in the next update than this icon:

So for someone who runs a website much like your average car driver, in such that he/she needs to take the car to the garage to have the engine fixed, will there still be the ability to get someone to look at the coding if a problem arises?
  8. Maalong added a post in a topic: 3.1 Support EOL

I read with disappointment that you will end the support offered to 3.1 users. I have invested a lot of time and money into customising my site, that runs on 3.1.4 and to have to have the script writers, and skin writer change everything to allow for the upgrade to 3.2 or 3.3 will be costly and time consuming.

The support I have received from IPS has been second to none, so it is such a shame that you will no longer offer it to 3.1 users.

Just to clear this up, so there is no misunderstanding. What I am asking is whether the help file(s) that will be included with the update (accessible via the help section under the sign in panel) will include documentation regards how a user can set up a page in easy steps ie:

    Sign up for a package
Use an FTP client to create a directory structure
Upload pages written in HTML etc, images, files...

I am wondering what type of help files will be available with the update for users to view before deciding on purchasing. Of course the marketing of the subdomains will be down to us, how we advertise it, and how we convince people to buy into it.

But will we need to write the help files for the users ourselves, or will there be help files that a semi computer/web literate user will understand.

[quote name='Maalong' timestamp='1295910166']Fantastic potential here! Will the Nexus documentation be updated to include a "Hosting for Dummies" section, to walk us through the setup? Also, what about the user help files, will they be updated and be simple enough so that we can attract users who are not too computer/web literate, but would like to make a presence on the web?

I'm not asking IPB to make me money! Read my post again, I'm asking about a user help file.

[quote name='Mark']I'm sure there we can write some documentation on how to set everything up

    Thanks Mark.

On another note, why did you move this to pre-sales? I have already bought IP.Nexus, and am asking about additions to the next version which I will download when released.

I would have thought that by being put in pre-sales, the suggestions/questions I have for it will be lost from the development.

Will there be any size restrictions to banners, or will admins be able to set a maximum size, so users can add a banner up to the size defined by admin?
You can define size restrictions (see the second screenshot in the blog entry)
    Great, thanks.

If the banner is over a certain size, will there be the built in ability for size reduction to the limit set by admins?
If a user tries to upload a banner that is too big, they will be shown an error.
    Fair enough

Will rotating banners be able to be weighted so that different prices can be set for weighting?
No. If there is more than one advertisement for a given location, one will be chosen at random until the given number of clicks/impressions is used.
OK, can live with this, but think it should be given consideration in future editions.

Can a start date be added, so that should a package be purchased for, say 3 months (90 days at 99 cents a day), then start date is from date of purchase, with the feature calculating the expiry date, and automatically removing the banner?
Yes. Advertisements can be given for a given number of clicks, impressions or a time period.
    Great!

If a user's banner has expired, will the banner be kept in users control panel so that they can purchase additional days/months/years for the same banner without having to upload new?
    Only if it's time based.
So say I have a user who puts a banner up for 90 days, then a couple of weeks after it has expired decides to reactivate it, he will be able to without uploading again?

Will users be able to edit their banner/link after purchasing?
No. Since banners require manual approval, once approved, they're locked in.
Administrators can of course change any advertisement.
Why manual approval? Surely a setting to allow manual approval, or no approval required would be better. If a member is willing to pay for an ad, admins should be able to choose whether they think approval is necessary. Why can a user not change a banner if they are not happy with how it looks? They have paid for the placement, so should be able to change for a better banner if they want to.

Will a user who has purchased banner space have logs that will show number of hits, location of user making hits etc?
He will be able to see the number of clicks and impressions so far, but nothing more detailed.
OK, can live with that too.
