    I turned it back on.

I just don't want to be notified of product updates etc... so perhaps have an notification option for Security Updates, separate from the News and Information stuff.

I didn't get an email. Couldn't log in and thought my account was compromised. I had to reset my password myself.

    Strange.

    Thanks. I've created one now.

I get the following error when I try to renew my license in the client area:

What is going to happen with the 12 pages of bug reports in the bug tracker?

I'm confused. Can someone summarise in 1-2 sentences what is happening to these licenses?
  7. Pereira added a post in a topic: Hacked!

I don't think it's a vulnerability. It seems to be a file permissions issue. I never seen this reported anywhere else but here. I don't visit here regularly anymore but I did see other similar examples of this on here before. It was a shame I couldn't open up a post/open up a ticket about it when it happened to me because the only forum open to me at the time was the pre-sales forum. That's when I switched software which I'm glad I did.

I have the same host as I did when I used IPB and like I said I have never had anything like this (modified files) or any other nuisances happen to me since.

I doubt it. It's worth noting that one of those security flaws was discovered by a 18 year old.  Well done to them.

I had something similar happen to me before with IPS files. It seems that it's a file permission issue (At least it was for me). It happened twice before which was one of the reasons I moved away from this software. It was also at a time when my license had just ran out which meant I couldn't get support. (This was the time when the forums weren't open to former license holders so I got literally zero support). Glad to see that's changed now tho.

After it happened a second time I decided to move and since then, I've never had any issues and I've never had to modify the chmod permissions with my current forum software. It's sad to see that it's still happening with IPS.

It could of course be a server configuration issue as well but when it happened to me, I had strong passwords for my databases and cpanel access. I even have the same host and I've never had issues since. So I doubt it's a server issue. It seems to be related more the software files/ chmod permissions of IPS... unless IPS staff can offer a different explanation.
  9. Pereira added a post in a topic: When is IPB 4.0 ?

I think what people really want to see is what the forum view, topic view and post view is going to be like. All the blog entries so far have been interesting but stuff like moderation, calendar etc are all secondary to how the main views have changed in appearance, functionality, ease of use etc...

I would love to see some more narrated videos of the new features by Matt. Screenshots can only show so much and probably don't do 4.0 much justice. With videos we get to see the new features in more detail without IPS having to release anything.

There's no need for the ad hominem attacks.

It was confirmed that there would be version 4.0 in this post:

and it was conformed that development was underway in this post:

    Cool

    I'm hoping it will be.
  12. Pereira added a post in a topic: When is IPB 4.0 ?

It is almost 2 years since 4.0 was announced and it's fast approaching a year since it was first publicly confirmed that development was underway.

There is still about 7 pages of bug and "Will Fix - IP.Suite 4.0" reports in the bug tracker, and all of this despite the fact that there have been no major releases in over a year.

4.0 will need to be something amazing if it is going to take longer than this.

Are there any examples of Nexus being used on other sites?
  14. Pereira added a post in a topic: 9 Month Bug Reports

It's minor in the sense that it does not impact on functionality, but it's major in the sense that it looks very unprofessional, especially after so long.

I might buy the excuse that the developers are busy wiping their brow every five minutes while working behind the scenes developing the software, but not after 9 months.

    It's totally cosmetic. :ermm:

Exactly and it's taken 9 months for it to be even looked at.
