Hmm. Thing is, some of the downloads would be 'paid' items . I want to protect the files by only allowing access from the download button.  So it seems the only way to do that is store on the dedicated server...right?

In v3, I had an issue with using FTP for the 'Downloads' application...my FTP credentials were shown in the url.   How has this been addressed in v4?
My scenario is running the site on a dedicated server, but storing the download content on a shared server via FTP.

I notice Ehren from IPBFocus is offering upgrades to many of his themes.  He seems to working very hard.

I also own a 3.x license, and decided not to launch my site until 4.0.  Its a tough decision, but I'll suffer a while for future sanity.  I don't like tinkering on the server side much.

Thanks. I could not find this instruction on the site currently.

I've tried this upgrader, but I keep getting permission errors even after changing permissions.  I also checked the permission in ACP, all looks fine.

BTW, there are commercial products in SimpleScript, Fantastico, AMPPS, and other similar script managers.

CPanel and Plesk can be configured with a SimpleScript ( http://www.simplescripts.com/ ) option that seamlessly installs and updates with minimal effort.  I've used this for wordperss, Joomla, and other forum software.  What are the prospects of IPB getting on that list?

Fixed.  After getting the tables replaced, I recached all theme skins.  Everything seems back to normal

Tables are now working, but CSS not loading

Unforntunely I'm the host (unmanaged server), but I'm merely learning these technologies as I go. Earlier I hired someone to parse those particular tables and import them. He thinks it can work.

I have these errors after adding space to my server.

    Can't find file: 'blog_views' (errno: 2)
    Can't find file: 'downloads_fileviews' (errno: 2)
    Can't find file: 'profile_portal_views' (errno: 2)
    Can't find file: 'topic_views' (errno: 2)

I have a backup that is about 3 months old.  Is it safe to replace with the older tables?

ip.downloads already needs a huge change to its code...might as well add this functionality along the way.

I had the same FTP credential issue when I first bought IPS...it was the a huge oversight for me because my site depends on secure downloads. So now I just use local server storage until someone can come up with a better solution.  I hear google is gonna offer a more competitive prices against Amazon S3.  Maybe some could extend IP.Downloads to take advantage of low-cost 3rd party storage.

How do I make iP.Downloads my home page?

I did notice that and mentioned it somewhere in this forum...currently its a high priority issue for me because I need to offload storage to FTP, but cannot rely on the current script because it reveals access credentials.  Not sure if IPS is looking into this.

This has worked to some extent.  Still having a problem with files >200MB.  I'll do some more research to see if there are other limitations set in either PHP, FCGI, or Apache itself.
