    No, there hasn't changes in 3.3.4. It's in line 2744

    My fault, I was looking in the adminOutput.php rather than publicOutput.php. What do I actually do from there to create a verticle sideblock? I understand it has something to do with the <!--fcontent_groupID--> tag. Where do I apply this tag to create a sideblock and how should this tag be completed - for example I have a group of images called Home, would I therefore tag as:

    <!--fcontent_groupID--Home>

    Sorry to be needing basic instructions, I have not been able to work it out yet. What I want to do is make a verticle block of displaying only one image that is in a collection of about 6 that rotates using the fade function in the sideblock. Is it possible to do this?

    Thanks

    Owen

    Try to find shorter words, eg
    <!--DEBUG_STATS-->

    you'll see that line.

    Note: if you use ipb in hosted communities, you will not be able to use that feature because you can not edit files.

    It's not there and I am not using an ipb hosted community. Has there been a change in IP Board 3.3.4 that has left this out of date?

    I have been following the readme file to try and work out how to include fcontent in the sidebar. I do not have anything like the code in step 3 in my publicOutput.php file -

    $output = str_replace( '<!--DEBUG_STATS-->', $this->outputFormatClass->html_showDebugInfo(), $output );

    I have also checked with my original file version publicOutput.php for IP Board 3.3.4 and could also not find the code that you refer to. What do I need to do then to include in a sideblock?

    Thanks

    I was wondering if you could tell me how to decrease the width of the Nav and Admin/user Sign in bars on the top and bottom of the slider. I looked around at the ipb.styles css file and tried some settings but could not work it out. It is probably about 40 - 50% wider than I would like to go with.

    I've noticed that my search bar has disappeared from my header but the little cog to do the advanced search is still there. I'm not sure if it is a result of my playing around in the CSS but I noticed someones board in the MAXX Dark support thread also had the same issue. I'm pretty sure it was working after the last time I was working with the CSS.

    I'm not sure if there is a solution to this one but I applied my own custom background image but there is still a minor delay flash as it loads with some sort of light blue default screen. The image file I used was only about 400KB which was comparible to the demo set that comes with the skin, so I wouldn't think that would be a huge issue. Anyway, I have no idea but was wondering what you thoughts were.

    Is there a way to remove the ips-skins.com link from the bottom of the skin? I find that giving my forum users a link to click that directs them straight to the site that demonstrates the building blocks of mine kind of takes away from the professional image that I am trying to portray. I know these sorts of developer tags are common practice but I would be more comfortable with people being redirected to a web developers page or something other than a demonstration of the bricks and mortar of my site.

    Overall, I am really impressed and am having a great time working with this skin and the simple user options it provides. It has taken very little time to go from out of the box to functioning in a way tha exceeds my expectations. I would be interested to see how others who have purchased this skin have made use of it. For anyone who would like to see how I am going with it, check my site out at www.meridianadventure.com

    Now everything is ok? :smile:

    You can add custom-content (link, image, title) of gallery images to slideshow.

    No, I gave up and went into the config.php file to stop my forum functioning through the https:// and changed it back to the http:// setting without the SSL. I read through all pages of this forum today to try and work out how to get it functioning in the index sidebar which is something I would really like to do. I used the instructions in the readme file and advice from this thread without any luck. I'm sure it can be done somehow but there is a lot of backend work for people like myself and by the sounds of it, many others here who are limited in knowledge and experience. Even if you made a new standalone product that did that as simply as this one does across the top of the board, I would buy it.

    Firstly, the default orange skin is not working for me in Explorer but has no problems on Firefox, Chrome and Safari.

    What version of IE are you having issues with. I tested with IE9 and 10 and it works fine on both.

    Feel free to take this over to the actual Glare support topic :smile:

    Hi Tom, the problem appears to be occuring at my end, where having applied an SSL, graphical errors are now occuring, which in this instance was a failure to display any of the skin/image content with the GLARE template. It's causing a few other things to play up, all isolated to IE and at this stage, mainly affecting my GLARE skin although there is a hook when running Pulse that is also doing its own thing. If I can get this problem sorted out and get work out how to reposition my logo slightly to sit more centrally as previously mentioned, I would be really happy to go and apply this skin permanently. But like I said, all problems at my end and the skin itself is a great product for a great price.

    I'm having a problem where in Explorer my fcontent bar runs vertically down the top centre of the page including behind the forums bars. I have all the settings correct for it to run horizontally at the top and that occurs on all other browsers. I have identified the problem as having something to do with my SSL as when I go to https://www.meridianadventure.com/forums/ the problem occurs but if I enter without the SS http://www.meridianadventure.com/forums/ every thing appears as it should and does in other browsers.

    I read a couple of pages back of someone who had an SSL error conflict who was advised to insert the code below, which I checked and was already there.

    <script type='text/javascript' src='<if test="$this->registry->output->isHTTPS">{$this->settings['board_url_https']}<else />{$this->settings['board_url']}</if>/fcontent/pluit-carousel.js'></script>

    I'm having the same problem as the previous post where I would like to raise the position of my logo so that is sits more central to the nav bar. How would I go about this?

    This has the exact background used in Pulse included :smile:

    The 'more' menu thing is annoying, I agree. However, I'm not going to stop experimenting with unique layouts because of a buggy IPB feature causing an issue.

    The skin is available here: http://community.inv...ile/5752-glare/

    I looked into it a little more and was interested in the ability to change the background image so went ahead and purchased a copy. I am only aboyut 20 minutes into playing with it but have a couple of questions/isssues.

    Firstly, the default orange skin is not working for me in Explorer but has no problems on Firefox, Chrome and Safari.

    Secondly, what I would like to do - below the header I would like to use the Pulse skin instead of the pixilated looking one used on Glare. As I already own a copy of Pulse, is there an easy way I can make this happen?

    My interest in using a background image came about as a result of a BIM Fcontent Block that started playing up and running horizontally down the background of the board and visible behind the forum blocks. This got me thinking that it would be nice to have a full page background image with a bit more colour behind it rather than the default white.

    Further on images, from what I understand so far, you can change the background image in the header and a sample of that image is used in the top of the forum and sidebar blocks. Would it be possible to use different background images for each of these?

    I think it looks pretty boring compared to Pulse. I like textured skins, there's already way too many soft cartoonish skins out there. The same problem with the limited nav bar menu resulting in the more dropdown that everyone complained about in pulse is still there too. Fixing that up alone would be a great leap forward. I like the feel of pulse but this one is not for me.

    Hello,

    Change this line:

    Note how the second one uses https:// there.

    Thank you,

    Nice, thanks.

    We'll its time to crack the ######ing champaigne!

    Having thought that 3 months of buidling had been destroyed and with no luck managing to restore from a backup (due to doing it wrong), I found some good info here:

    http://community.inv...tabase +restore

    which led me to a great solution here - <link removed>

    I still have my original problem of SSL but I am just happy I got to the bottom of it after days of FTP uploading - no success - delete - start again. Despite being a MASSIVE nightmare for my inexperience, it has been another worthwhile lesson along the way before my site goes live in about a weeks time. So now if I blow the place up, I should be more confident at getting it back up a lot more quicker and easier.
  14. OwenG80 added a post in a topic: I broke my URLs

    I recently purchased an SSL certificate, primarily to support my Nexus built store. There was a problem however where my Host provider advised "The SSL certificate is functioning and working correctly, however your websites programming is not allowing the website to display the HTTPS address, when I visit https://www.mydomain.com it redirects me to http://www - meaning that there is a redirect in the .htaccess file or it is hard-coded in the index file. This redirect needs to be removed or https needs to be programmed in for the specific pages which you would like the SSL certificate to be displayed on."

    I assumed that this was a result of my forum running from a subdomain where I had set up a redirect for my .com to forward to .com/forums. Since installing I had read that installing outside of the root directory is counter-productive to effective SEO so I figured relocating it from the redirected forums subdomain to the root would kill two birds with one stone, enabling the SSL to function and also improving SEO.

    If you have not yet gathered already, this is where I went wrong. I figured it would be as simple as going into my FTP and simply doing a drag and drop from the /forums subdomain and into the root folder. After diabling the redirect I discovered that the .com page was a disfunctional mess. With fear of having just lost my functioning Forum for good, I decided that I would try to recreate the forums subdirectory with redirect and put everything back the way it was.

    It worked on first appearance with the Index page back to normal but now none of the URLs are functioning, resulting in the following error:

    "The requested URL /forums/forum/topic/ was not found on this server.
    Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

    I know the data still exists because I could access it in its disfunctional form when placed on the root directory. I suspect that something has occured where the URLs are no longer pointing to the correct location. I also tried accessing URLs by removing the forums/forum/topic to just forums/topic without any luck.

    My globalconfig.php file contains the following:

    <?php
    $INFO['sql_driver'] = 'mysql';
    $INFO['sql_host'] = 'localhost';
    $INFO['sql_database'] = 'myname_mydata';
    $INFO['sql_user'] = 'myuser_user';
    $INFO['sql_pass'] = 'passwordremoved';
    $INFO['sql_tbl_prefix'] = '';
    $INFO['sql_debug'] = '0';
    $INFO['sql_charset'] = '';
    $INFO['board_start'] = '1336990890';
    $INFO['installed'] = '1';
    $INFO['php_ext'] = 'php';
    $INFO['safe_mode'] = '0';
    $INFO['board_url'] = 'http://www.mydomain.com/forums';
    $INFO['banned_group'] = '5';
    $INFO['admin_group'] = '4';
    $INFO['guest_group'] = '2';
    $INFO['member_group'] = '3';
    $INFO['auth_group'] = '1';
    $INFO['use_friendly_urls'] = '1';
    $INFO['_jsDebug'] = '0';
    $INFO['mysql_tbl_type'] = 'MyISAM';
    define('IN_DEV', 0);
    /* Remote archive DB - complete these details if you're using a remote DB for the post archive */
    $INFO['archive_remote_sql_host'] = '';
    $INFO['archive_remote_sql_database'] = '';
    $INFO['archive_remote_sql_user'] = '';
    $INFO['archive_remote_sql_pass'] = '';
    $INFO['archive_remote_sql_charset'] = '';

    Additionally, my htaccess file contains the following:

    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^forums.mydomain.com$ [OR]
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.forums.mydomain.com$
    RewriteRule ^/?$ "http://www.mydomain.com/forums" [R=301,L]

    The Index.php file simply contains the following:

    <?php
    /**
    * <pre>
    * Invision Power Services
    * IP.Board v3.3.4
    * Main public executable wrapper.

    define( 'IPB_THIS_SCRIPT', 'public' );
    require_once( './initdata.php' );/*noLibHook*/

    require_once( IPS_ROOT_PATH . 'sources/base/ipsController.php' );/*noLibHook*/
    ipsController::run();
    exit();

    I did originally edit these files to remove the /forums when I transferred the site to the root directory and from what I understand, correctly ammended them back when I tried to return the site to the recreated /forums directory.

    I am assuming that either the problem exists in one of these files or that I did not recreate the directory properly. My public_html folder contains cgi-bin, forums, .htaccess and robotstxt.txt. Everything else is in the forums folder.

    I would call myself an IP Board user of fairly basic knowledge so if someone is able to make sense of the information I have provided and come up with a solution to get my URLs functioning again, could you please let me know in simple, basic steps. I appreciate your time and help in assisting me to get things running properly again.

    Thanks

    Owen
