    ah, proto, not mootools, ha... That was my problem with the first. Thanks again for the help
  2. aaron.luman added a post in a topic: click events not working

    I'm trying to register some events for elements on my template and running into a problem getting the events properly registered. We have jQuery loaded (with $.noConflict()) , and the following code:

    $('reviewPhotoThumbs').addEvent('click',function(){console.log('hello')}); jQuery('#reviewPhotoThumbs .scroll-right').click(scrollImgThumbs(SCROLL_RIGHT));

    the first line throws an error:

    and the second (if the first isn't there) evaluates on load and does not bind the event.

    Is there a special IPB way of registering events that I need to know about?

    Thanks

    mostly just curious :) but it could be useful later on.

    Thanks for the help

    Thank you. that worked exactly as I had hoped. Also, I tried doing something like: ression="myFunc()"}
    <php> function myFunc() { echo "hello"; } </php> {parse exp

    but it didn't seem to like that. Is there a way to call a custom function via {parse exp ression}?
  5. aaron.luman added a post in a topic: Printing an array in a template

    I am new to all of this IPB stuff and was reading

    http://community.invisionpower.com/resources/documentation/index.html/_/developer-resources/applications/using-skin-templates-r683

    near the end of that doc, right after the logic section it says:

    but then doesn't mention HOW to do that from inside of the template function. If I put it inside the <php></php> tags it executes before the headers are set and much of it gets hidden behind design elements. How should I be doing this?

    Note, this is for debug/dev and not the final product. I like to be able to see the array structure when writing up the loops and other conditional statements.

    Any suggestions? thanks
  6. aaron.luman added a post in a topic: IP.Content articles landing page

    I am trying to get my (test server) IP.Content articles main page:

    http://aaron.ttinc.us/index.php?/page/articles.html

    to look like :

    http://community.invisionpower.com/resources/articles.html

    which template do I need to work on. I am still new and am having a hard time figuring out which template to be working off of... Is there an easy way to figure that out?

    thanks for the help

    Sweet! Thanks , I like simple solutions. that was easy enough.

    Now that we've got that figured out, next question: The only full tutorial that I can find is this guy . Is there one that specifically looks at IP.B 3.3.x or that is otherwise better than this one?
  8. aaron.luman added a post in a topic: Trying to learn IPS template and css modification

    I am new to IPS and am trying to do some minor edits to the default template. I have IPB set to dev mode (for some other stuff I will be working on) but other than IP.Content and (DP33) Global Sidebars 1.0.9.4 ( http://community.inv...lobal-sidebars/ ) it is a clean IP.B 3.3.4 install.

    Editing through the "Look and Feel" > IP.Board (default) > CSS editor produces no changes to the css delivered to the browser. Every time I make an edit and save I clear the browser caches before reloading and have tried with all major browsers on both PC and Mac, no changes.

    Is there something that I am missing? Is there some system flag that I need to set in order to be clear out the IPB css cache (if there is one)? This is really frustrating.

    Thanks for the help.
