    Actually - see here: http://community.invisionpower.com/topic/335962-converge-joomla-160/page__fromsearch__1

I've tried getting Converge to work with Joomla 1.6 and it just won't. I haven't tried in a while, so perhaps something has changed. I gave up and was less than impressed with the lack of support from IPB on what I thought was an official OPB product!

    OK - thanks.

I think the weak link in this case is the issue of not being able to search for "PM" because it's below the 3 character limit for searches.

Anyway, thanks. I'll look forward to beta 5 then.

Also, if you're going to say this is a duplicate, could you actually post a link to the original bug report which you think I'm duplicating. That way I can at least check it out and come back to you saying "hang on, that's not the same issue", if that were indeed the case.

Where are these duplicates? For goodness sake, I did a good search before I posted this and I couldn't find anything like it!

Similiarly so with the other one I put up earlier on the missing labels on the registration form.

Sorry for posting duplicates, but could I propose a better system of tagging the stuff that's here in the first place?

    Messaging doesn't work
I've encountered this issue since the first Beta and on two different servers, with very different server environments. Currently running on CentOS with php5.

I've done a screencast of what's going on here: http://www.christianmums.co.uk/bugvids/ipb3messagingbug.html

    No labels on registration form
I had this problem on IPB 3.0 Beta 3, and now again on beta 4. Interestingly though, since beta 3 I have moved server to a totally different company running a totally different server environment! I am now on CentOS and cPanel, using php5 as the default.

This is what the registration form looks like:

  7. fishfood added a post in a topic: IP.Blog 2.0 Discussion

But if it's as simple as that how come sites like wordpress.org, and blogger, or even myspace and so on aren't hacked day in day out? They all allow users to heavily customise their pages or blogs and appear to keep them safe and secure.

I know what you're trying to say Brandon, but I'm afraid I think it comes down not to vulnerabilities but vision. If IPB wanted to create a secure means of highly customisable blogging then they could do so.

Your blog system is rigid and secure, but far too rigid for today's web2.0 communities I'm afraid for it to be a viable contender ... and especially a contender you have to pay for!!!

Might be an idea to update the post on the forum about it being available then!!!

    New Topic Button
The order of the buttons to the bottom right of every post has been swapped round. This swap in button order serves no purpose, but simply will lead to frustration and annoyance.

Please can you change them round so that the buttons go: Add Reply | Start New Topic

    Oooh - exciting times!!!

Some good features there. Nice one! :D
  12. fishfood added a comment: I can't finish upgrade

Yep - same for me. Ran SQL command, which allowed me to run blog_setup and succesfully upgraded to Beta 3. Then had to run blog_setup again in order to get to RC1.

Ooooh! Very excited! But now I can't wait. Damn you! :D
  14. fishfood added a comment: I can't finish upgrade

Yep - same with me, but only on a blog which I'd upgraded previously to the Beta release. On another IPB Blog on the same server setup, which I hadn't upgraded to the Beta release, the upgrade worked fine.

This could be a conflict between the Beta code and the RC 1. Just a thought.

About Me

Hi there,

I'm a bit of a geek, but a nice guy really once you get to know me.

I've got a B.Sc(Hons) in Physics with Astrophysics, and an MA in Theology. I am an ordained minister in the Anglican church. I come from the evangelical persuasion, and pretty much the conservative end of it.

Like I said though - I'm a nice guy once you get to know me.

I love all things Sci-fi, especially good old star trek, and am firmly convinced that TNG was of course the best of the lot once you forgive the atrocious first season!!! :D

I'm still into astronomy and have a rather gorgeous 10" LX200 computerised scope, but sadly don't have the weather to go with it :(

Having worked in IT I remain involved in web design for my own ends and a few friends and contacts - but am desperately trying not to be a web designer anymore as my church work is far more fulfilling and much more important in the grand scheme of things (well I think helping people tops helping people with their websites anyway).
