I guess setting up a new db just for the conversion is a hassle for most people.

While you're correct, when converting IPS should be offline.

I run the conversion script for UTF8 and I choose the recommend option for 279 tables.

The thing is that I always end with 1 table NOT fixed no matter how many times I run it. IPS4.php reports:

    any clues?

Not tried full conversion because I don't know if it'll full convert only the specific table of the whole database, as ther latter will take quite some time (~1,5GB db)

Is this something that a modder could do easily? I am not a programmer but I want to know if this could be done in order to pay someone for that...

Will there be a functionality that an IPD file could be downloaded and/or viewed (such in topics list only view) only for specific member(s) and/or group(s) selected by the uploader?

I thought that's why IPchat is hosted on IPS server...

PM splitting is not complain, it's a feature I need since a lot of my members don't open new PM but continue writing in existing ones. This is bad and I know it's comming from facebook where Conversation is all one, but that's the truth.

Also I expected new and/or improved functionality which I haven't seen yet IIRC

Contemporary design is good and really welcome but it's now going to refresh our sites just like that.

    How about PM splitting ...

I just hope this is not the only Messanger blog entry....

Nice work. I hope that if someone has a 100 pages PM, there is a way to go to last page at once, especially using mobile. (yeap I have such users)

Is there a reset to default?

...and so I suggest to IPS to hire more developers

Simplicity is one thing, I can give you that, but organization / statistics-analytics is another.

My community is small so I don't really mind it that much but for big communities it would draw some conclusions seeing stats like that. After all the reasons for reports (as well as warn) are more or less known to everybody, that's why I think they could be standardized.

I've said that in the past somewhere, sending a PM related to the REPORT or WARN system is important not only for convenience but most importantly to link the PM with the report or warn (that is back and forth no matter the screen).

Now I just send if necessary a PM that is later trackless through endless other PM conversations...

Predefined report reasons, like warn system (not to mention linking between report and warn), is a must for the future.

Integration is very important. There is a need to LINK stuff, live topics with events etc... maybe even in a linked topic-event, the event it pinned on the top of the topic or even better shown on the top the screen even when you scroll down, knowing how many are participating and which friends of yours etc...

A problem in my community is that except the forum (topics/posts) the rest info is lost (events, blogs, downloads). People don't easily explicitly go to look for them, so I guess you need to pop it in their face notifying them...
