Yes - I thikn this is the line I added to the mobile skin - globaltemplate

     <if test="IPS_APP_COMPONENT == 'ccs'">{$this->registry->output->silentRedirect( 'http://www.yourdomain.com/forums/index.php?act=idx' )}</if>

Not sure, but if I had to guess I would say when the first 3.4 update was done.  Not everyone has the issue, and some have it worse than others.

I'll give that a shot, thanks!
  3. SG Staff added a post in a topic: Click into thread sometimes kicks back to Index

    Sure didn't.

I am on dedicated,   So - this is something I should look at?
  5. SG Staff added a post in a topic: Click into thread sometimes kicks back to Index

Sorry - I know it's an awful title but it's hard to explain this on in a short bit.

A load of our members have this issue (including myself)...

When clicking on a thread to view from the forum index, the thread will begin to load.  However, it does not finish, instead the user is kicked back to the forum index.

I did some searching with a load of different ways to describe this and didn't come up with anything.

Anyone have any experience with this?
  6. SG Staff added a post in a topic: Download: Forum Passwords

I am on 3.4.1 - does anyone know if this works on my version?

    Thanks!

Sorry, I don't come back here as often as I should.

If you are making the articles, just make sure you check the box that says "Show on Front Page" when you write the article.

The "articles" are your actual news stories.  "Pages" are the format with which they are displayed.

    Like this...

My new home page I am working on -  http://www.seasonedgamers.com/forums/index.php/sghgv2

My current one - http://www.seasonedgamers.com/forums/index.php/index.html    -  they have the same info for the most part, the display is just altered.

I understand why the "Pages" thing is confusing.   It's almost like an extra step to take to get to your end point.   I imagine there is some reason for it, even if I can't exactly figure out what it is.

IP.Content is the way to go for this.   It's a simple 2 column layout you need to set up.

    http://matthewjamestaylor.com/blog/perfect-2-column-right-menu.htm    (i.e.  http://www.seasonedgamers.com/forums/index.php/sgleagues.html )

The rest is setting up blocks.

You need your main block to pull from an RSS feed, if you are pulling articles from other news sources.

The links can be an article if they are static and RSS if they pull from somewhere else.

The twitter feed just needs you to set up a twitter widget and put it in a block.

Thanks for this.  I have had complaints about the same thing.   This is a great addition.  :)

At this rate, it's going to take several weeks or more to archive.   Is there anything I can do?
  11. SG Staff added a post in a topic: VPS Needed?

We didn't move to a VPS until we cleared the 1million post mark and about 50-75 users at a time.   So, you don't NEED to - but this is god advice above.

    Fantastic - thanks!

Well, alright then.   Consider me corrected.  :)

Can you setup a Cron job?    When I moved to a dedicated server, I set up a cron job to empty my memory out every hour.   We used to have the out of memory issue constantly, but I haven't had it since.  As a matter of fact, I don't even think I have gotten into using my Swap since I added this little script.

Cron Job set to run every hour every day. And this command as it looks.

    sync; echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches

Has anyone set anything like this up?  I wanted to do this but I am not quite getting how to set it up.  I want to automate the process so I don't have to think about it at all.

Doing some sort of incremental backup would be best, but I would even take a full backup once a week if that's what it has to be.

This doesn't have to be to S3 either - it could be to another web server or something.

    Thanks!
