Send 404/410 HTTP status codes for deleted or non-existent threads

At the moment a 200 HTTP status code is sent for threads which are deleted or don't exist, and an error message is displayed. Google calls this a Soft 404.

Instead real 404 Not Foudn or 410 Gone headers should be sent for URLs to these threads.

I'm pretty sure this is the case already, I just tested it here and the site had a 404 header.

Hi I think this is old post to ask this but I have no option. I am looking the way to send an 410 gone to users and search engine as there are 1000 of threads that I want to de-index. Can anyone help me

Post in the forums for support on how to change the code to do that please, tracker is only for bug reports.
