During upgrade when global albums are converted to categories we don't "fix" the sort order. While the software handles it automatically, this has a side effect.
All categories have this: a:2:{s:3:"key";s:5:"idate";s:3:"dir";s:3:"asc";}
As a result, the correct sorting option is not pre-selected
