Comments now count towards user post count?

This doesn't appear to be a bug, rather a new feature since v5. Comments in the gallery appear increase a user's post count.
Moderating the gallery comments is quite hard on a large gallery board (not as easy as the forum) and some users have discovered that they can increase their post count by posting in the gallery. They can then increase their rank based on this.
Is there a way to disable comments increasing post count or can be have a toggle to turn this on/off?
I have looked and I can't see this feature in IPB Gallery 5

Gallery simply uses the standard comments system in IP.Board, the same one the blog, download manager, calendar, etc. all use.
It is not increasing the posts count when you comment in Gallery. I've just tested and it did not change my "Active Posts" count (nor should it).
