Updating Status to: Not a Bug

Hidden comments are not "unapproved".

They are also not deleted, and as other apps do not show hidden comments in the removed content section, I'm not included to build a plugin for this for Gallery only.

Hidden/unapproved/deleted needs to be cleaned up in a future version across the board to be more consistent, but this isn't something specific to Gallery. It's the same with all apps.

ok.... but where DO the deleted comments go? just out of curiosity... I hit delete and that comment goes poof.(not in modcp, noting the missing tab).. is it really getting deleted?

Yes, if you delete a comment it goes for good. There is no "trash can" for comments.

It actually isn't consistent. The comment system is a global suite-wide feature and it does not support soft-deleting (e.g. deleting puts the comment into a queue to be deleted later).

The ONLY area that supports soft deleting is posts in a topic.

For that to be included, it would have to be built into the global comments system itself in the core. It isn't even something I could add to just Gallery if I wanted to.
