No "Add Media Type" option

We removed the ability to upload MP3s and other media as it didn't really fit in with the Gallery concept.

Argh.No media sharing in gallery? That's an app killer. Must be other gallery scripts available that allow multiple media types.

Apart from mp3 (which is music and not image or video) we support all the main image/video formats available. If there are other image/video formats not supported that you'd like to see added just open a topic in the feedback forum.

I'm not an IP.Gallery customer yet, but I was considering getting it for my community in the future. I see a gallery as a repository of the community's creative content - and as a hobbyist composer myself, I can say that music most definitely falls under that description. Having to resort to IP.Downloads or the forum attachment system is not a solution, as it would separate music from all the images and videos produced by a community.

Why remove the ability for an admin to add custom media types to the gallery? What you'll get is people uploading music in the form of videos, as people do on Youtube and deviantART, neither of which support MP3 uploads. Either that, or disgruntled customers refusing to upgrade to Gallery 4 (which is what I'm seeing a lot of now, and it's not exactly filling me with confidence in the product).
