this flashed at the top of the screen, one for each image on the rebuild stages of the upgrade.

^ is the result of said error.... thumbs are huge and badly proportioned.

further information: Using the Categories Overview-> Tools-> Rebuild All Images appears to have manually fixed the thumb issue

Believe I see the problem, depending upon which version you upgraded from. Please retest with the next build when it is available.
