Performance: Log Management

Admin CP --> System --> System Settings --> Performance --> Log Management
IP.Board logs various actions and errors for future reference. This page controls the prune and logging levels for all logs that are generated by IPB.
Prune Options
This section indicates which logs should be pruned (deleted) at the intervals mentioned. Most of these logs are viewed in the AdminCP or on the front end. The SQL logs are contained within the <i>cache</i> folder under files named by the date they were created. We do suggest enabling log pruning as, over time, logs can become very large.
Error Logs
This section controls the types of errors that will be entered into the logs. Since errors can occur even during normal operation, such as a visitor going to an outdated link, not all errors are logged below a certain severity threshold. In general, IPB considers log levels as follows:
5: Severe and critical error that will affect most users or indicate attempted hacking
4: Severe error that will affect many users
3: Medium Error indicating possible board / server environment misconfiguration (uploads failing because of insufficient perms, etc)
2: General Error indicating possible board misconfiguration or user error in sensitive areas (secure key mismatch in ajax, etc)
1: General Error
The administrator can also choose to be notified of errors above a certain threshold here.
