Tools & Settings: Question and Answer Challenge

IP.Board contains many advanced mechanisms to guard against automated scripts or "bots" from registering accounts. Even with those safeguards, a script can sometimes find ways of defeating them and register on your community. While this does not compromise the security of the software, a script can post spam messages on your community which take time to clean up.

The question and answer challenge allows you to implement another safeguard. An automated software program can bypass some security but you can use the question and answer challenge to present questions which answers can only be solved by a real human. You can set up and manage the Question and Answer Challenge at Admin CP --> System --> Question and Answer Challenge.

The only correct answer to the question <b>What color is the sky?</b> would be <b>blue</b> but a computer program would not automatically understand that. Of course a computer could be programmed to answer that question, but if you come up with unique questions specific to your community it will be more difficult. So be creative in your questions and answers but keep them simple enough so everyone will know the correct answer.

Setting up Challenge Questions

Enter a question and the list of valid answers to that question.

If the question was <b>What is a color in the rainbow?</b> then valid answers would be:

red
orange
yellow
green
blue
indigo
violet

Enter the acceptable answers to your question, one per line, as in the example. If a user enters any one of the answers their submission will be accepted.
