"Unable to read" error message

When upgrading or installing IP.Board, you may receive an error message such as "Unable to read xxxxx bytes in file...."

This will normally only affect hosted customers using the Zend encoded version of IP.Board. The encoded files MUST be uploaded via FTP in BINARY mode, not ASCII.

You will have to check your FTP client and determine how to change it from uploading files in "Auto" or "ASCII" mode to uploading PHP files in Binary.

As every FTP Client is different, this is something you would have to check your FTP client documentation for instructions on how to change.

In the FTP Client WSFTP Professional, you would go to Tools->Options->ASCII Filenames and remove .PHP as an ASCII Filename. Other FTP Clients would be different, but likely somewhat similar.

If you are still having trouble, please contact technical support for assistance.
