IP.Board uses cookies in order to save user login sessions and preferences. Cookies are stored on each user's computer, and allows them to stay logged in after they have left the board. These settings control how cookies are sent to the user, and a frequent cause of login issues is when these settings are set incorrectly.
Cookie Domain: This should be the domain name of your site. Remember, there has to be a period (.) before the domain name of your forum as noted in the example.
Cookie Prefix: This is not required unless you have more than one IP.Board on your server. If that is the case, you can enter any value for this field, so long as the value is different on each installation. It can also be changed to set a new cookie.
Cookie path: This should be the path from the cookie domain to your forums. For example, if your forums are at yoursite.com/forums, you would enter "/forums" here.
There are also several settings which you can configure related to cookies, which can be found in the Security and Privacy settings group, in the System tab of your ACP.
Member's log in key Expiration: This setting dictates how long a "Remember My Login" setting will be valid if the user does not visit your community.
Normally you can leave all cookie settings blank and IP.Board will use default settings. You can change these settings, however, if you are having issues or conflicts with cookies.
